About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Great for fine wines
Our name, which means “little dream” in Italian, was chosen by partners Tony Priolo and Ciro Longobardo because it had always been their dream to open a restaurant of their own. “The restaurant fits our personal goal to get to the heart of Italian wine and food,” says executive chef Priolo. “You go to Italy for simple food prepared by hand with local ingredients. We wanted to bring that experience to Chicago.”

Piccolo Sogno features a menu of seasonally fresh rustic Italian cuisine. The impressive all-Italian wine list boasts over 400 selections to pair with your meal.

When the weather allows, enjoy al fresco dining in the hidden garden patio-regularly recognized as one of the best in the city.

Starting December 1, Monday-Thursday we'll open at 5 pm rather than 4 pm-just for the winter.

You are welcome to bring a cake to celebrate. If you do, we will charge a $3 fee per person cake-cutting fee.

Beginning January 1, all credit card transactions will be charged a 3% fee.

Outstanding! I am not a patron to normally leave reviews but this meal leaves me no choice. To begin, the authentic Italian cocktails kicked the meal off beautifully. I ordered the grilled octopus and appetizer size gnocchi. Out of this world. The grilled octupus was paired with gardenia to fuse a Chicago classic with Mediterranean flavor in the most delicious way. I took bites of my friends meal as well- the best lasagna I’ve had in my life. (sorry mom!) This was a meal to reunite with long time friends and we couldn’t have chosen a better restuarant.

We were seated in a tent-enclosed room, next to the tent wall, so it was a bit chilly and not as nice as I am used to at this location. There were a few drunk parties next to us who were extremely loud. But I appreciate that we were able to get a table, and they can't control the other diners! Food was absolutely delicious. The special was a perfect citrus-y branzino. Desserts were delightful (I love their panne cotta, but everyone else preferred the chocolate hazelnut confection). The staff were attentive but not overbearing. Love this restaurant but will stick to week nights or summer nights in the garden to avoid the weekend chaos.

In the summer they have the most beautiful garden. During the winter the restaurant ambiance is wonderful as well. Excellent food and service.

Excellent food and wine. The signature dish, the Ravioli Picollo Sogno is definitely worth trying. Loved that pastas could be ordered as appetizer size.
