Poggio is a classic Italian trattoria with comfortable neighborhood charm and destination-caliber cuisine. Created by Larry Mindel, who also founded numerous other restaurants in the Bay Area and beyond, Poggio has been ranked among the very best Italian restaurants since it opened. Led by Executive Chef and Partner Ben Balesteri, Poggio’s daily changing menus use the best available local ingredients including dishes inspired by the seasonal bounty of our local farmers, ranchers and fishermen and the traditional methods of Italy, including wood-fired ovens, house made pastas from scratch and a wide variety of dishes serving guests breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We’re honored to have been awarded a Bib Gourmand distinction by the Michelin guide in 2017, 2018, and along with being named Best Italian restaurant in Marin County by Marin Magazine in 2021.

As usual Poggio doesn’t disappoint- we had a 7:15 reservation and upon arrival had to wait about 10 minutes for our table as guest turnover was a bit slower - was new years so expected. Server was quick with water and drink orders appetizer was great and so was the duck confit salad. We shared the ribeye which was big enough for 2 cooked perfect. The only minus was the chocolate lava cake which was served cool instead of hot. But all in all another great dinner in Sausalito!!

It was NYE and we sat outside - AND - we still enjoyed everything - from pizza, arancini, meatball appetizers - to our entrees and dessert. Good night.

We spent our New Years Eve at Poggio! Amazing! Five stars all around. Chef Ben is a Rock Star...his food is so delicious. The 'front of the house' staff was lovely and accommodating. They also have a terrific selection of wines and specialty cocktails. Even on such a busy night we were not rushed. Great way to end the year!

Great food and great service. Initially they told us we had to be done in 2 hours but then told us to take as much time as we wanted. Very friendly staff.
