Valentine's Day may not always be the best day to comment on a restaurant as the volume of clientele often exceeds normal business. With that said, the filet mignon was tough, burnt on one side and cold when delivered to table. Asparagus was also burnt. Duck was delivered warm but was tasty.

Despite having a reservation and passing 6-7 empty tables (all the same size as the one we were given) we were sat in the very back corner of the restaurant next to the bussing station. The majority of our meal was listening to clanging plates and listening to staff talk amongst themselves. Very disappointing

Food was delicious, however at the end of meal we notice that it was Valentines day and the servers were giving all the women guests a red rose. We did not get that!

We had reservations received a text that our table was ready but when we got there they were setting up a table in an adjacent room for us.. table was wobbly and off center which is to be expected with how old the floors are etc Good took a long time to come out My dinner was fair at most .. my sons steak was overcooked a couple next to us complained their food was also dry and not very warm

Reserved early Valentine’s Day dinner. Got seated immediately. (there were couples waiting, I guess wo reservations) Waitress, Laurie, was very good. Meals were delicious pot roast for me; filet mignon. The filet was supposed to be medium but came well done, but it was taken back and replaced by a new perfectly done one. The waitress was very apologetic as was the manager (?) who offered a free dessert. The atmosphere (being in a historic NE Inn) was the icing on the cake. Been there several times in last 40yrs and always enjoyed it!

Went there for Valentine’s Day only to be informed we couldn’t get the Valentine’s Day fare until 4PM. Ordered other items we really didn’t want. Was seated smack dab in the middle of the fireplace hearth. Not only were we driven out by the heat, we also were covered by ashes flying out of the fire due to fresh wood being thrown on the fire to make sure we were driven out. The couple sitting to the right of us were affected as well. I’ve always loved going here. Done with it now… VERY BAD EXPERIENCE for Valentine’s Day.

I expected the Valentine dinner menu at lunch; apparently I was mistaken and disappointed. The service made the occasion less as she felt like we were a chore. The food wasn’t anything extra. I do love the atmosphere and was so hoping for a pleasant escape for fine dining.

We had a really nice late lunch at the Publick House this afternoon. My turkey dinner was delicious as always. The kids got their pasta and chicken finger meals which they enjoyed. My husband got the Pot Roast which he said was good. We love the signature sticky buns, corn bread and roll basket. Service was great and the atmosphere was lively!
