   I expected elevated food. I didn’t get that. The shrimp and grits were good but the entree was cold. The fried deviled eggs was a miss too. The little chicken nugget on top was over cooked, too much mustard and the deep fry wasn’t necessary. Also the chicken and waffles were over cooked. The brown sugar made the waffle burn and was hard. The kitchen should be paying more attention to the preparation on everything. The price was high for the level of food outside of the seafood.

   Brunch was amazing! Lets start; the “Chicken Fried Deviled eggs” are a legend in the making. These should be called “Eggmazing eggs”. The catfish was perfectly fried, and the chicken fried bacon was sinfully good. The decor was simple, elgeant, and eclectic. IG approved for certain!

   The staff were all very professional and polite. Our waitstaff were very friendly and knowledgeable. However, I made my reservation for Huncho House and was directed to go down the street to their sister restaurant 1123. Thinking that the menu would be the same since it was not where I made my reservation and paid my $35 deposit it was not. I was very disappointed that I was almost forced to go into a restaurant that I did not make a reservation for. When we try to get seating back at the original restaurant, there was no availability. My party and I ended up having to eat at a restaurant that we did not choose. A number of the items on the menu was not available. We ended up selecting food from the menu because we had no other option at that time.

   The food was great as far as the taste from both me and my wife however, the size of the seabass for that price was a bit too much for that price point. It was entirely too small. The service was good once they came. I felt it took a long time to get served at the bar and then when we sat down the time in-between visits was just a long. I would still go back again because the food was good. I had the lobster joloff.

   I patronized Chef Tobias’s former DC restaurant and had hoped to get back to another location to support him. My girlfriend and I made a reservation for a Saturday night. The ambiance is cute and the music provides good vibes. However, service was lackluster especially considering the price point. For example, I had to ask for my water to be filled up. We had to flag the waitress down to place our entree orders well after we completed our appetizers. Then the waitress neglected to place our side order as requested. She apologized and said the manager will comp the side since she placed the order late. Then she asked if we wanted a check instead of asking if we want dessert. As my girlfriend and I were taking turns to use the restroom before leaving, the waitress came over and said that the reservation for our table was here. How about you not rush me when YOU provided poor service? If you took and place our order as requested in a timely fashion we would be finished and heading out the door. I don’t have to rush back to another restaurant under this ownership.

   The bartenders and wait staff were great. Operations were poor. They ran out of food. Drink orders were delayed because something happened to the ordering system. We paid for our drinks and left.

   Excellent dining experience. Friendly knowledgeable staff, relaxed and super chill atmosphere, and exquisite cuisine. Loved it! We are looking forward to dining at Honcho House having now sampled the culinary creativity of Chef Tobias. The mixture of flavors and textures from the kimchi collards to the squid ink pasta with seared scallops has us wanting to further explore Chef’s gastric artistry. Two thumbs up and a snap!

   We made reservations, hired a sitter, and drove out there just to see that it was closed so we never got a chance to try it out. If you plan to go, call first to ensure it is open

   We thought this place was a little more upscale than we encountered. We read that there was a dress code and no tennis shoes were allowed. Unfortunately, almost all of the men had on tennis shoes and the attire was very “street”. The DJ music was so loud to the point we were “yelling” to talk. We ended up not dining here, but maybe the neighboring restaurant has a more mature clientele.

    Checked it out on a Saturday eve with my gal pal for dinner. Beautiful establishment, great vibes, excellent hospitality and good food. I loved that our server gave us a brief rundown of the restaurant’s background and chef, was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Just one caveat— although very DELICIOUS, our food was not hot! I would still come back again! Thank you!!
