   We have never been disappointed with this outstanding steak restaurant serving the Cape Henlopen region for over 20 years. Tom is attentive and trains his staff to be the same. The steaks and other menu items (Black Ravioli) are delicious. We celebrate my husband's birthday at 1776 every year and we have never had a complaint.

   We are local to the area and had been hearing many people rave about 1776. I understand why: compared to other places in a 30 mile radius, the atmosphere is unique, and the prices were, at least compared to what I expected, very reasonable. My wife indicated that she enjoyed the filet mignon she ordered. We both agreed that the seafood bisque we ordered was top notch and the piano music a nice touch. Our server talked me out of ordering my delmonico steak "medium" explaining that if medium rare was undercooked, she'd take it back to the grill. She was a bit insistent so I followed her suggestion, and yes, I would have liked it on the grill another 60-90 seconds. She came to check 2 or 3 times on whether I loved my steak but honestly, it was a little annoying... who wants to really send their steak back to the kitchen once it's been plated, and you're really not sure when you'll get it back? But that wasn't the biggest problem with my steak... it was not bad but just not delicious. I do steak better in my backyard, to be honest. We both enjoyed our wine - my pinot noir was especially good. And while there was nothing "wrong" with my side of asparagus, it was very plain. Seasoning of any sort would have helped. Our server learned it was our anniversary, so she comped us a piece of cake for dessert - It was not spectcular and I could have done without it but it was chocolate, so it disappeared. The owner came to check that everything was top notch... overall the service was good and the staff attentive. And who really wants to pick nits with the restaurant owner when you're out with your spouse on your anniversary? So I told the gentleman everything was fine. Not totally a lie. Overall, it was a nice night out because 1776 has a nice ambiance but I think it was over-hyped and I expected too much. That said, if you're in the Lewes-Rehoboth area and you want a steakhouse experience you may have better luck than I had with my particular steak... so give 1776 a try.

   If you want Prime Rib , request ahead of time I was told. Otherwise very good.

   Great restaurant, great atmosphere, excellent waitress name Cathy. This particular evening I decided to have the prime rib queen cut. I had it with a baked potato and asparagus. I had asked them if they could possibly cut it in the kitchen for me and they did. Made it much easier for maneuvering on the plate. I will attach a picture so you can see how amazing my meal looked and I can tell you it was just as good the way it tasted.

    Our waitress last night was Cathy and she was outstanding. We had the Tomahawk broccolini and a baked potato and everything was cooked to perfection
