   The first time we went to 1870 was phenomenal. The food and service were excellent. The second time, the food was still great but the service was poor to the point of being strange - the burrata was served without the sourdough, which is in the menu description, and then the server had a weird discussion with us about how they weren't sure if it was supposed to come with the bread or not. Other items were dropped at the table without acknowledging us at all as if the staff were doing a drive by. This third time we were hoping the last bad experience was an isolated event, but this was so much worse. The bartender gave us a bit of an attitude, we were left with empty drinks for 15 minutes (at bar seating), we never received the salad we ordered, and left after about an hour. There were several staff seemingly doing nothing, all assembled at the bar, taking frequent smoke breaks and paying no attention to the relatively few customers. It was a really unfortunate dining experience for what should be an amazing restaurant. I hope 1870 sorts out its clear performance issues.

   Food was overall phenomenal. Service superb. Wait was expected as it was a holiday and staff were gracious and accommodating. Building and Ambiance was gorgeous/perfect. I would skip the au poivre next time as it had a strong unpleasant herbal taste to us. The filet was absolutely perfect, as was the pork chop, lobster bisque, oysters, wine selection, and even the starter bread and European butter was unique and delicious. Surprisingly priced slightly below what one would expect for such a grand culinary experience. Will return!

   1870 provides a wonderful dining experience. We visited on New Year's Eve, so the restaurant was crowded. But, the staff was calm and proceeded to manage the arriving guests as well as possible. And, with a smile. When seated, the service was attentive, in spite of the stress of such a full house. The food was exceptional. From appetizers to main course to dessert. The wine list was fine. As main courses, we had a petite Filet Mignon and Scottish Salmon. Both were great - and served hot. Given the full house, it was impressive to receive our meals on time and so well presented. Go to 1870. It is worth the drive, even to those who live so far away on the other side of the river......

   Being New Years Eve it is how to judge a restaurant but having to wait 30 min in line to meet the hostess then confusion over where we were to be seated, allowing a customer to make reservations for Valentines Day while not addressing the line. We were seated at a high top ( which we had reserved) but no one recognized us until we had to wave down a server of course we were told they were busy. The high light was the food everything was delicious did not order desserts nor were we prompted to. Will think about going on a regular night in the future.

   this is the second time dining here, the first sitting at the bar with a delicious filet mignon, great wine recommendation, potatoes, But, New Year's Eve, steak was half the size, and only semi warm as the potatoes. The strimp cocktail was 4 tiny strip laying in a. sauce. So disappointed!

   1st time and will not be the last. Excellent food, cooked to perfection. Great friendly personable service. Couldn't have asked for more. Brian's the man!

   Delicious and great service by Bonnie. Steak was cooked perfectly and the béarnaise sauce was outstanding. Sides of creamed spinach and au gratin potatoes were amazing. Truly a remarkable meal.
