    I love this restaurant and it did not disappoint this time. I had the steak salad (without cheese), and it was really good. One of my companions had the 545 salad, (also without cheese) and also really good. The other 2 had the salmon, which was a bit dry, but flavorful. The wine was reasonably priced and very good. Service was a little forced, but responsive. The ambiance was really comfortable, but nice. (I really love the outdoor space, but the weather did not accommodate us this week.)

    I’ve been here a handful of time and always enjoyed my meal. This visit was the exact opposite. Our server seemed to have no idea about the menu. Had to come back to ask how we’d like steaks done and not asking what sauce we’d like when there were options. Two of us ordered our steaks medium and they came out well done. They also had a major bug problem. Gnats and mosquitoes were everywhere and we were sitting inside. We had to ask for more waters because they kept getting bugs in them.

    If you enjoy slow service, receiving food not the way it was ordered, an extremely loud atmosphere and management who just doesn’t care about your dining experience, then this is the place for you! There is a reason a majority of their reviews are negative. I ordered the Filet Mignon, medium well and not butterflied. Amy, our server said that the kitchen prefers to butterfly anything over medium but I said we were in no hurry and would be happy to wait however long it takes to make it the way we would like it. When the food arrived I could tell the steak was under cooked and after cutting into the steak my suspicions were confirmed and the steak was between rare to medium rare. I asked to speak with the manager and when she arrived she just stood at the table and looked at us without introducing herself as if we were bothering her. I asked “Are you the manager?” and she said she was and then asked if there was a problem with the food. I explained the situation and said I will just eat the areas that are cooked for my liking because I wanted to eat while everyone else was eating their food. When we finished dinner, Amy offered us dessert on the house for the inconvenience. I informed her that we already had dessert waiting for us at home because we are celebrating a birthday but perhaps she could just adjust the cost of my meal for the portion of my food that I didn’t eat. I gave Amy my credit card and was surprised to see our card was charged in full. She said “Sorry you are disappointed with your experience”. In all of my years in the hospitality and service industry I have never allowed a customer to leave my establishment dissatisfied without making any attempt to provide an incentive for them to return. The next day I called the restaurant because as a business owner myself, I would want to know if my manager was treating my customers like this. Well guess what? That manager who could care less about our experience, turns out, she is the owner!

    Average food with minimal taste. Drinks were expensive. Had a martini with a twist and the bartender forgot the twist. The waiter said he would get me the lemon twist and he retrieved it, brought it to me in his bare hand, then dropped it in my drink along with his fingers. Nasty.

    We used open table to make a reservation for 8:30... typically after the Saturday rush. It was a situation that the manager should have taken the restaurant out of the reservation system for the night well before we arrived. They were severely short staffed and under trained (They knew they would be going into the evening. One of the staffers was getting married and invited a number of their coworkers to the wedding.) We waited at the bar a minimal amount of time for the situation (maybe 10 minutes past our reservation). However, we waited 20 minutes at our table before I asked the hostess if someone was helping us. The hostess attended to our table. The one app took 20 minutes and the mains were another 20 min after that. For an 8:30 reservation with 1 app, 4 entries, 1 round of drinks from the bar and no desert, this took far too long for this type of restaurant. It was over 90 minutes. I would have expected at least an apology from the manager. None was received. I'll give them another try but if they are backed up- I am walking - there are many other local establishments to chose from.

    I would not return. Food was over cooked and service was horrible. They weren’t that busy yet it took over an hour to get our food. It took two hours for our meal. They didn’t stop for drink refills, check, etc.

    The food was not great. The service was just ok and the whole atmosphere was kind of strange. I’m surprised it has survived in Libertyville this long.

    We went out with friends and decided to revisit 545 North again. It did not disappoint. Each of us ordered a different meal, and none of us were disappointed. In addition, we were able to sit in their outdoor area and enjoy the wonderful evening weather.
