Abacá is an airy, atelier-style restaurant with a cool outdoor terrace, whipping up Filipino-Californian cuisine with flair in Fisherman's Wharf. It's the bricks-and-mortar spin off of chef Francis Ang's pop-up Pinoy Heritage. The lively menu is split up into barbecue sticks, noodles and rice, and small to big plates, but its far more nuanced than just that. Flavourful dishes pull from family recipes and are glazed with modern and heritage technique to result in a vibrancy that's hard to come by. It's grounded by local produce. Smoked Bay scallops lead in the seafood pancit, heirloom tomatoes top homemade tinapay bread, chicken skin is glazed in an adobe before hitting the grill and guinea fowl comes slathered with peanut sauce. A truncated list of creative Southeast Asian libations bring it full circle – if you're on the terrace, cool off with the Baguio breeze slushy – a dreamy mix of pandan-infused vodka, coconut and strawberry.

My second time for lunch and everything was delicious. Their pastries are a great take on Filipino traditional pastries. Their areoz caldo with lechon was delicious and the waygu silog had a very generous piece of streak. Loved the fresh baked pandesal and the accompanying spreads. And I have to say the service was outstanding. We had a toddler with us and everyone was so sweet and accommodating with him. Rebecca was amazing and brought our experience there to another level.

We had an awesome experience from beginning to end . The flavors, the originality and the wine pairings were fantastic ( and frankly better than a recent 1 star Michelin for 1/2 the price !). We were treating like family. Also very accommodating ( and creative) for food restrictions . We will be back!!

Wonderfully innovative Filipino food. The menu configuration was a bit confusing. We ended up with too much food

Overall great dining experience. Classy ambience with chill and causal vibes. The servers were very knowledgeable as well as personable. Keyoki recommended the Paubaya tasting menu which did not disappoint. Every dish tasted amazing. We loved noticing how a dish had similar flavor profiles to other traditional Filipino dishes but so elevated. One member in our group added the drink pairing which surprisingly for each course paired very well. Pooja was also another server helping us out and she was so great and personable. She also has hella strong arms. We always have a great time at Abacá and would highly recommend for a dinner between friends, family or even a date night!

A different twist to the Filipino food we typically eat. But it was ALL amazing. With top notch service to go along with it all. We'll definitely visit Abacá again.
