Abacá is an airy, atelier-style restaurant with a cool outdoor terrace, whipping up Filipino-Californian cuisine with flair in Fisherman's Wharf. It's the bricks-and-mortar spin off of chef Francis Ang's pop-up Pinoy Heritage. The lively menu is split up into barbecue sticks, noodles and rice, and small to big plates, but its far more nuanced than just that. Flavourful dishes pull from family recipes and are glazed with modern and heritage technique to result in a vibrancy that's hard to come by. It's grounded by local produce. Smoked Bay scallops lead in the seafood pancit, heirloom tomatoes top homemade tinapay bread, chicken skin is glazed in an adobe before hitting the grill and guinea fowl comes slathered with peanut sauce. A truncated list of creative Southeast Asian libations bring it full circle – if you're on the terrace, cool off with the Baguio breeze slushy – a dreamy mix of pandan-infused vodka, coconut and strawberry.

Love Valentine’s Day experience, offered a free Polaroid photo, great service. Delicious tasting menu. Would definitely recommend to any couple looking to celebrate something special.

I love me some Filipino food, so I was looking forward to an elevated take on it. Unfortunately, I finished the meal with a stomach full of disappointment. I have heard good things about the brunch menu, so maybe I'll be back. But the dinner offerings were unimpressive and most dishes felt like a waste of quality ingredients. The service was fine. However, when ordering they told us that we probably needed to order more to be full, but I think we would have been fine without. Not a huge complaint, but annoying nonetheless. Ube Colada: Overly sweet, and lacking the balanced fruitiness of a good colada. The pineapple overpowered all other flavors. Also, for something advertised as an "ube" colada, there was only a trace amount that could be tasted. Lola's Pork Lumpia: Good execution. The sweet puree and lettuce wrap provided thoughtful textural contrast and modernized presentation. Isaw Skewer: These were fine. Im not a huge intestine fan, but I can't hold that against the dish. Wagyu Steak: A quality cut of meat that is let down by its preparation and accompaniments. The soy glaze, though acceptable, didn't elevate the meat. The steak had paltry crust development. The included parsnip puree was far too sweet, and the rich texture didnt suit the marbeled steak. Homemade Rice Noodles: Probably my favorite dish. The buttery sauce, toothsome rice noodle, and the crunchy cashews were a great combo. Though slightly overcooked, the squid contributes a pleasant oceanic depth to the dish. Sisig Fried Rice: Visually striking and technically sound, this take on a classic delivers on all fronts. Red Bean Mochi: The Red Bean Mochi itself was quite good. However, the fruit syrup it was served in was a cacophony of flavors. Each component shows promise in isolation, but the combination lacks cohesion. Also its hella pricey.

Food was quite exotic - a little on the salty side - didn't feel like the whole menu was presented but there is a group menu - couples menu and limited options for single diners - the wait staff was excellent and worked together - special props to Aller - he was very passionated and a great server.

What a wonderful dinner. This was our second time here but our first time doing the Kamayan Experience. The service was amazing as was the food. It was a perfect way to celebrate my wife’s birthday with the family. Highly recommended!

As a Christmas present we take Tom’s niece and her husband to a new restaurant. This year it was Abaca and I’m so happy they were able to experience really inventive and creative Filipino food. We were there for brunch and had the appetizer sampler which was stunning. So many interesting dishes including yellowtail, fried oyster, lobster bisque, a fresh pea spread for the bread. Two of us had chicken tocino with garlic fried rice, fried eggs and a piece of chiccarron on top the third guest had the Wagyu beef tocino and I had the rice porridge with lechon. At the beginning, the service was a little slow because the waitress was so busy, but she was so friendly and informative as things slowed down. We weren’t given the pre fixe menu along with the main menu by the hostess although it was mentioned on the main menu so that was another mild service lapse. We had planned to use valet parking since the street parking meters are just as expensive as the valet parking but we’re unable to because that service was reserved for the hotel guests which is unfortunate.

Chef Ang just keeps improving and this Chinese New Year menu is the best so far! It's about to end so I would definitely make a reservation ASAP. For those who are saying it's over priced, check out his prices and compared to other fine dining experiences, this is very reasonable. I could easily get out for $50. I haven't found a dish I didn't like!

This was my first time at this restaurant and we went for brunch on a Saturday. The restaurant is located in the lobby of the Kimptom Hotel and the valet is $25 for 2 hours at the Resturant. The menu for brunch is not very extensive. The food is OK I have eaten Filipino food at various places for my entire life so for me it was just OK. The service was awful! We arrived about 10:30AM and there were only 5 tables occupied. I asked for a cup of coffee while we looked at the menu, 10 minutes later the waiter returned to take our order, I reminded him about my coffee order and still no coffee for another 8 minutes. I observer many other tables receiving coffee so I waived him down and asked again. Our server was terrible we continuously had to waive down other servers throughout the entire meal, we had a bottle of wine and he never replenish the glasses, we purged our own. I would not recommend based on our experience

High quality food and service. Reasonable prices. A great mixture of traditional Filipino food with contemporary American flair. You can tell that there was a lot of effort made into creating the menu. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu.

For a family of 6 ordered fixed price menu $85 per person. Also ordered drinks. For the most part, food was good. Pork chop was very salty. Only one serving of rice and noodles for 6 people Noisy, 2 unrelated to us customers were sitting at the end of our table, nothing special about the ambiance. Got charged for desert that was supposed to be included in the menu separately, though this was quickly removed when I asked. For $875 a horrific value overall
