Set amongst acres of scenic Berkshire countryside Cantley House is a popular venue for one of the most English of traditions - afternoon tea. Indulge in a fabulous choice of afternoon teas in our award winning restaurant; the perfect setting for a relaxing afternoon.

For the time being we will be serving food in the Courtyard Garden so we can ensure social distancing and give everyone plenty of space to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

This was a family Halloween afternoon tea and the decor was excellent. The problem was I had only been at the table for 15 minutes when both children (under 7) wanted the toilet. Despite leaving our coats and half eaten food by the time we returned the waitress had cleared the table! The manageress was very apologetic and boxed up some cakes to take away but my coffee and the children’s drinks went without replacement ! Better training for staff please!

Sadly the bread was really dry and the ham was very tough. The filling was minimal. The scones were nice ..the cakes on top were OK but very sickly for an afternoon tea. The sandwiches are my faveroute part of afternoon tea and we were so disappointed. Such a shame as we got married here and wanted to re visit.

Cantley House Hotel certainly did not disappoint, The food the staff and the whole ambiance of the garden eating area was perfect for a spot of posh afternoon champagne tea. Thank you

Fire your pastry chef all things tasted of nothing. The brownie was dry, the tempered chocolate had a disgusting filling, the attempt at a Mille fuile using cake was just wrong, the macaroon didn’t taste of anything but cream. All sandwiches needed seasoning and should be offered as several rounds. The saving grace were the scones. Sorry but wouldn’t come again for it, you’d be able to achieve what was presented at home from M&S with more success.

I was slightly disappointed with the cakes - they were not as lovely as those that appear on the website. Staff very helpful, and provided a nice birthday slate with writing on.

We opted for the Gentlemen's Afternoon Tea for Father's Day. My husband doesn't eat cheese and I needed a vegan afternoon tea and it was no trouble at all. We took our two dogs with us and they made a fuss of them and made sure we had shade and water on a beautiful sunny day in their courtyard garden. Really delicious afternoon tea, decent strong coffee and lovely sweets/scones! Very impressed and highly recommend.

Father's Day nightmare Booked afternoon tea for 4 people for Father's Day celebrations. Waiter took our order for traditional afternoon tea and my son's lunch. Moment later manager came to check if any of us would like to swap to Gentleman's afternoon tea. It meant that sandwich collection to be swapped to Scotch egg, mini slider and quiche. We got our order in timely manner. Disappointment was huge when my husband cut to his Scotch egg - it was raw inside. Manager came to check and said they will replace everything for him. We waited and waited - needed to ask again after 25 min wait. They brought a new one. This time the slider was raw! What a palaver for one afternoon tea. They did not charge us for his tea and gave rest of us a discount. But still, I am not going to return to this venue nor will I give any recommendations for it at all.

Rather disappointing compared to previous times we’ve been there. The place is nice and the food was OK. But it wasn’t a nice experience. We even had to ask for our tea (after we ordered an afternoon tea)! Hot water refills would be such an inexpensive way to make it feel more upmarket. Not cheap for what we got.

The service and food were amazing, excellent value for what you get. The food was fantastic and what we didn't eat we took away with us. Staff couldn't of helped us enough. Would definitely recommend.

This was a treat for my birthday. It was very tasty and good value for money. We enjoyed ourselves. I think the scones are the best anywhere. Warm and delicious. Lashings of cream. Delicious.
