This is a neighborhood gem and family run ambiance. Patty and David are the owners. We have been coming here for years since it opened. They are the friendliest hosts who welcome their customers like part of their family. They have a courteous staff and the food is reasonably priced.

We really enjoyed Akebono. The food was excellent and everyone there is very friendly. I expect this to become our go-to Sushi place from now on.

This place is just okay. My husband had a shrimp tempura roll and one of their special rolls heavy on tuna, and I had the Akebono roll and a roll with salmon, eel, and avocado. We also had shrimp gyoza to start. The gyoza were quite tasty and seemed very fresh. The sushi rolls had way too much rice on them - we could barely taste the fish. The eel and tempura in the rolls were both wam which was nice. Service was fine - one of the women seemed like she didn’t want to be working which came off in her interactions with other staff in front of customers which was a bit awkward. There are better sushi places in the area.

Akebono is our favorite local Japanese restaurant. The sushi/sashimi is outstanding, and the tempura, gyoza and ramen are top notch. The proprietors are very friendly and take very good care of their clientele. Highly recommended!
