Located in The Plaza Hotel complex, Alder Café Bar guarantees delicious food, excellent cocktails & wine and professional friendly service, every time.     The Afternoon Tea is the perfect get together for friends and family. Ideal for a Hen Party, Leaving Parties, Bridal Showers and Baby Showers. Afternoon tea bookings must be booked 48 hours in advance and is served from 1pm – 5pm daily For groups of 6+ people a deposit is required and you will be contacted by the reservations team after the confirmation of your reservation. Our guests are greeted with an assortment of freshly baked scones, delicious handmade sandwiches and our selection of delicate desserts. Accompanying this trio, we have a fabulous, wide range of hand-selected teas.

                                                          Staff very courteous My husbands starter was cold And main he had fish but was more batter then fish inside . Restaurant itself lovely ambience and clean .

                                                          Visited yesterday and it's my 4th - 5th time here. Has a nice ambiance but can be a bit quiet. Service is very good. Was a little disappointed with my choice. I ordered the curry with chicken but there was not much chicken in it. My friend ordered the fish and chips but said the fish was not fresh ( like it had been frozen ) and it was the same last time they ordered it. I do like it here but would have to reconsider before visiting again or recommending for food...

                                                          Lovely relaxed venue, good menu nicely cooked and presented. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would like to see half bottles of wine added to menu.

                                                          We are regulars at The Alder so we weren't surprised that the Festive Afternoon Tea was fantastic. There was plenty of food, the layout was lovely and the staff are all fantastic.

                                                          1pm lunch booking. 2 courses. Almost empty and we weren’t served main course until 2.30pm. Starters were decent. My associates turkey & ham was decent. Table of 10 beside us returned theirs as cold . Mushroom risotto was awful. It obviously wasn’t stirred enough and was like sludge.
