   We enjoyed a delightful birthday "Bruncheon" with group of friends at Alpina today. Although the dense mist shrouded the view towards Finlayson Arm, we sat in the bright picture window and enjoyed the feeling of being in the clouds. The food was delicious and arrived promptly without any of us feeling rushed. We lingered for quite a while over our brunch, but never felt pressured by our very attentive server. We were moved by the lovely finishing touch at the end of our meal: a special birthday message in beautiful script from the kitchen accompanied by chocolates! It was a very nice way indeed to end a happy Sunday meal. We look forward to returning soon to this special place which is closer than we thought to Victoria but feels a world away. Thank you to all the staff for making this a memorable birthday!

   We are regular customers for years. A recent management change within the dining room seems to have significantly affected the previously high level of service. We have been twice over the holidays for a (business) dinner meal & a birthday brunch. The wait times have been excessive 45-60mins for main meals. It’s especially annoying when the servers don’t follow up and provide an update. The food upon arrival was very well presented and the food was expertly cooked. The downside was that 1 server ran the food out which took 3 trips with delays. Some of the food was cold (breakfast potatoes) but the most off putting was “beard hair” on one of the plates. Next special occasion will be Marlena or Sooke Harbour house.

   The restaurant was exceptionally busy and so the staff was struggling to keep up with the demand for seating and food service and so there were long waits between courses and a few things were overlooked, or forgotten. Our waitress was as attentive as she could be under the circumstances, and very pleasant and courteous even though she was very rushed. The food was excellent and well presented. I think the main issue was that they were severely overbooked. I would eat there again, but maybe not on Christmas Day.

   We had reservations for 6pm. After waiting for 45 minutes, we left. I understand it was a busy time but we watched people coming in and being seated right away. An acknowledgment that we were there or an offer of a cocktail while we were waiting would have gone a long way. We were so disappointed. We came in June for brunch and it was amazing. I'm sure it was last night too.

   We were only able to book a 4:15 reservation for dinner. We weren’t served our main course until 6:45 then after coffee arrived they kindly asked us to leave as there were so many people waiting in line to get in Not very good organization on their part

    We had mushroom ravioli and mushroom risotto. Both were spectacular. They have four options of de-alcoholized wine!!!! The downside- though I had confirmed twice through text messaging that I was keeping my reservation, when I called they said they didn’t have it. They said they could accommodate us (two people) at two different times then originally confirmed. We expected a full restaurant but there were only four tables being used throughout our entire dining experience. Considering how few people were there, the wait for drinks was incredibly long.
