American Slang Modern Brasserie is a totally unexpected fun, vibrant, modern and approachable 200-seat restaurant and 35-seat bar that has been surprising and delighting savvy diners as well as discerning Kansas City ‘foodies’ since summer, 2017. Dramatically designed dining and bar spaces are ‘fresh’ by day and ‘minimalist’ by night, this is where ‘local’ collides with ‘European’ in a compelling and engaging way. Plus there are flexible private dining areas available for special occasions and events from 20 – 100. Seasonal outdoor seating offers some of the best Country Club Plaza views around.

To make Afternoon Tea reservations, guests may call 816-303-2945; only 48 hours notice is required.

This place was weird . Totally empty at 6:00pm. Server took drink order then disappeared. Took 30 min to get drinks when only 3 people at the bar and we were only table. Got drinks and left

Pour overall even for a hotel restaurant. Numerous better choices nearby on the plaza.

Fabulous experience! Gorgeous this time of year!. Server went out of her way to accommodate. Food was excellent. Valet service was great. Only complaint is that they are limiting their menu on the weekends because it gets so busy when people are in town for the games, so they didn’t have some of my favorites available.

There was not a staff person at the host stand. I waited a long time for someone to even acknowledge I was there and ready to order.

We’ve been a few times and it seems they only have two waiters working at a time and two bartenders for the restaurant and the music area. The view of the plaza lights is amazing and that’s why we continue to go. The food is okay.

We had a large party, so some delays in service is expected, however it took 30 minutes to get our first round of drinks - after being given 3 drink menus, 2 of which were missing a page or two and one that was literally empty - and an additional hour after requesting our second round. The appetizers came out and were quite good, however the entrees did not come out until 2 hours into our meal. There were roughly 4 other people dining while we were there, with several servers and two bartenders, there was no reason for such slow service. The waitress was relatively polite but seemed indifferent and entertained by our dissapointment with the quality of service, not to mention the rather gross food. The menu was not the same as what was state online and overall I wouldn't reccomend eating here. However, it was one of the funniest meals we've ever had as now we have many funny stories to tell about the experience.

At 6:30 on a Saturday night, they were out of half the things we asked for but we weren’t even told until they delivered what they did have to our table. When we asked for substitute dishes, they were out of those too. The dishes we got were fine, not great. The room is loud and bare and menus are paper. I had to ask for a glass for my beverage (brought the bottle to the table) and plates for our shared appetizers. Waiter was slow and inattentive. With the infinite options on the Plaza across the street, this is NOT the place to dine.

The staff was nice and accommodating but the food at the Easter buffet was just okay. There weren’t many people there so the food wasn’t being refreshed often and it wasn’t the freshest quality. The $70 brunch price seemed a bit high for just okay food.

Can’t say enough about our experience here…they were due to close 30min after our reservation but was still very accommodating and the server was very pleasant
