Artisan Waterfront Restaurant & Tavern offers a unique and innovative dining experience with magnificent views of Lake Michigan. Our Great Lakes-inspired, New American cuisine has an emphasis on farm-fresh fare from local and regional farms, celebrating the theme of craftsmanship and sustainability.
With booking a table in Artisan please advise your table will be reserved for 2 hours starting at the time of your reservation.
PLEASE NOTE THAT OUTSIDE TABLES ARE RESERVED UPON REQUEST BUT CANNOT BE GUARANTEED.
If you have requested a table outdoors, please be advised that in the case of inclement weather, we will do our best to accommodate your party inside at the same reservation time, however we cannot guarantee a table inside at the same exact time and may need to adjust the reservation time accordingly.

We are regular diners at Artisan and always enjoy our experience. Last night was truly outstanding. Service provided by Joanna was perfect. The beet salad, shrimp alla vodka, and duck breast were delicious and beautifully presented. The menu changes monthly and the chef is one of the most talented and creative in Traverse City. The atmosphere is lovely ( although I agree with other reviewers who have mentioned the too low chairs…I request a cushion) and we give Artisan our very highest recommendation.

The overall value is limited based on high price to rent cabana. $150 to rent cabana for 2 children and three adults is beyond over-priced coupled with the cost of the food which is basically average. The pool water was definitely not heated to temperature advertised. Your cabanas would be full if you went back to your last year practice of no cost cabana rental. Would not do it again-

Artisans was not too busy on the weeknight we ate there, and that may have helped the level of service—excellent, and the nice quiet atmosphere. The food preparation and taste combinations are simply artistry on a plate. Unusual and yet delicious! Only thing that still needs to be fixed are the uncomfortable chairs, for smaller people, but at least they offer cushions now to help. A really special meal!

Artisan has a beautiful location overlooking the bay. The service was very good. I didn’t think the food was outstanding especially considering the price. The filet mignon could have been grilled better, no vegetables on the side. The flourless chocolate cake was rock hard and cold with a chocolate sauce that was frozen. My biggest disappointment is having to pay for bread and butter at a fine restaurant, seriously?

Our meal was delightful in every way. We adored the cozy fireside ambiance, impeccable service, elegant cuisine and a sophisticated array of zero poof cocktails. Thank you for making my birthday extra special with a thoughtful card and a (delectable!) dessert on the house! We will be back, again and again!

When we made the reservation we assumed we would be seated in the dining room. Unfortunately we were sat in the bar with a very noisy group/party standing at the bar. It was our 23rd anniversary dinner so we were just hoping for a bit more romantic setting. We asked to move and the hostess said they were too full even though there were still many open tables. Just would have liked to know at the time of booking reservation, we would have chosen something else for this occasion. With all that said, our waitress was attentive and the food was great.

The food was ok, not worth the price . Our server was great. Worst dirty martini that I’ve ever had but they took it off my bill.
