A great dining experience in Blackheath Ates is a small restaurant which serves imaginative and well prepared dishes. We had the chefs selection (95$ per person) with focaccia, a delicious tartlet, beetroot with basil, burratta and additionally a plate of octopus as starters. All delicious. Followed by crispy duck served with pumpkin and a salad. Finally two desserts to share. It was good value and thoroughly enjoyable.

This is our second visit and this time we celebrated our Valentine's Day dinner at Ates and had a wonderful time. We definitely recommend the charred octopus, chargrilled Swordfish & roasted duck. Service was excellent. Will definitely go back.

It was a disappointing night at Ates. We were rushed with our set menu meals, meals arriving whilst still easting the course beforehand. We were in and out in an hour, completing our set banquet menu and a bottle of wine. The main course fish was so burnt that my wife could not eat it. The banquet menu is NOT THE SAME what they show on the web page, there was NO Sydney rock Oysters, Wood fired Scallops, charcoal grilled octopus or wood roasted pork neck on the banquet menu. Would not go back again or recommend it. The value for money is not worth it, far too overpriced what we received.

We celebrated my Husband’s birthday at Ates. The service was excellent. We enjoyed the Chefs menu that included several small plates and we both had the duck! Our server recommended a bottle of wine that was perfect for the meal. A little noisy as it’s a small space, but a great dinner out!

This restaurant was a revelation in an area short on good dining. We felt very well looked after and were made welcome from the outset, the service was outstanding throughout the evening. A real personal touch with great recommendations for food and wine choices. The food was real fine dining - great flavours and imaginative pairings. The local wine was superb. We really couldn’t fault this restaurant. A wonderful experience on our Sydney based holiday from the UK.

Each time we come to the blue mountains we come to Ates. The service is amazing, the food is really good, with nice flavour combos, and all for a decent price. We love it here! Strongly recommend going here for dinner if you are in the area. You won’t be disappointed. Thanks!
