Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Johnny Courtney

From the OpenTable editors: Chef and co-owner Johnny Courtney cooked at the iconic Canlis for four years before opening this restaurant, which has been dubbed one of the hottest in the country by Eater, Esquire, and the New York Times. In a historic Craftsman home painted moss green, Courtney and his team feature local farmers and fishermen in rustic dishes like rosette cookies with sweet onion jam, Dungeness crab on pain de mie, and glazed maitake mushrooms. Pair it with one of the exciting cocktails or a selection from the wine list that includes plenty of representation from Washington.

Philosophy

Everything from the table service to the parting gift was intentional and personally placed. My friend and I were a little apprehensive about the menu but our concierge server suggested but didn’t oversell the perfect menu. Everything that landed on a plate in front of us was an absolute treat. Take the time, spend the coin, and enjoy a fabulous meal from the chefs at ATOMA.

We enjoyed a little Bday celebration at Atoma last night. The place was packed bu we were seated right on time. Derek, our server, explained the entire menu to us. Amish, our Somm, helped us pick out a nice bottle of English Sparkling Wine to start the party. Both were on the top of their game. We actually ordered all but three items from the menu. We were four people who love to eat. Some of the highlights were the Jerusalem Artichokes ( wonderful ), the Potatoes called Heirloom Spuds with cheese ( outstanding ), Rossette Cookie, Dungeness crab, Grilled Halibut, Lamb Saddle, etc... All were so tasty. The service was top notch the entire evening and the plates were well spaced to give us enough time to enjoy without rushing. For me, I think the only caveat is that it is expensive. Some of the dishes were a little small. Saying that, I wouldn't hesitate to go back for a Bday or Anniversary. But we probably won't be going back on a regular basis. Cheers ! P.S. The Baked Alaska was Killer Good !!!

Overall, an amazing experience! The food was delicious—especially the Kanpachi collar, which was absolutely the best. The service was excellent too. I really enjoyed everything and highly recommend Atom!

Visited Atoma the other night after reading a recommendation on Eater. The much celebrated rosettes filled with fresh cheese and walla walla onion jam are a completely delicious pre-meal snack, as are the radish cakes with geoduck. We loved the Jerusalem artichoke (sunchoke) with hoja santa cream, the crumpets, and the nicely balanced and full flavored glazed Maitake mushroom with celeriac remoulade. For me the Kanpachi was overwhelmed by the acidic mandarin. Unfortunately no room for dessert but that baked Alaska looked very good indeed! Overhead lighting may not make this an ideal date night destination but we would certainly return when back in Seattle.

Absolutely incredible service. We expected the food and beverages to be great based on what we’ve read but the service just made it next level.
