ATX Cocina experiments with the boundaries of Mexican cuisine. We have taken traditional Mexican dishes and elevated them with modern approaches and techniques. Corn, the basis of the Mexican cuisine for thousands of years, is also the foundation of our kitchen. We nixtamalize and process our masa in house sourcing it from heirloom varieties of corn grown by small family farms in Mexico.

    Drinks were delicious and the food was subpar. The yellowtail appetizer looked amazing but was very fishy. Maybe we are just spoiled on the west coast because the octopus and shrimp appetizer was the same…it didn’t have a “fresh caught” taste and texture. The entrees were a little more exciting and lived up to the hype but that’s where it ended. We were talked into ordering the Caesar salad and beets which I’m a huge fan of but unfortunately they were pretty bland and lacked any delicious flavor. Overall it was a great experience but the food didn’t live up to the hype unfortunately. Wonderful service, delicious margaritas and lively atmosphere were the saving grace for ATX Cocina in our opinion.

    The entire staff were wonderful, especially our waitress Rebecca! She made the night an easy and fun experience. She explained all the dishes with ease, cared about our allergies and dietary restrictions the entire night, and made sure we were never in need of anything. Overall we can’t wait to go back!
