Awaji is definitely a sleeper sushi restaurant that you wouldn’t necessarily think of when passing 122/rockwell. You won’t get in without reservations, and the inside of the restaurant is like walking into a sushi restaurant in Japan. they’re selling some of the freshest sushi I’ve ever had. Unique rolls to the restaurant, along with noodles, skewers, and other items. Also delicious desserts, I’m talking to you bruleed cheesecake. This is also one of the fastest service restaurants I’ve ever eaten out. You can be in and out in 45 mins if you want, but more realistically an hour. These guys are pros at turning over tables, and their sushi chefs are pumping out rolls like a nascar pit stop crew. Treat yourself.

Awaji Izakaya is our new go-to sushi place! Truly the freshest fish in OKC. We love their happy hour, bluefin, tuna tower, and the seasonal sashimi offerings. We took our kids this time and they both got the kids chicken strips, which was an enormous serving and put every kid's menu they've eaten off of to shame. We ended up eating what they couldn't finish because it was so good!

An Unforgettable Dining Experience! Valentine’s Day—one of the busiest nights for dining out—turned into an unexpectedly perfect evening when I took my kids to this incredible Japanese restaurant. It was our first visit, and I can confidently say I would go back day after day! Let’s start with the food: the Gyoza was hands down the best I’ve ever had in my entire life. Every bite was packed with flavor, perfectly crispy on the outside and deliciously tender inside. My kids each enjoyed different sushi rolls, and to my surprise, the California Roll was the biggest hit for my youngest—everyone at the table devoured it! We also sampled multiple appetizers, all of which were fantastic. The cocktails were not only fun but also expertly crafted and absolutely delicious. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was simply breathtaking. This is, without a doubt, the most authentically decorated Japanese restaurant within at least 500 miles. It truly felt like we had been transported out of the city and into a whole new world. The renovation is stunning, and you can tell the owner put her heart and soul into every detail—both in the ambiance and on the menu. Our server was exceptional. She gave spot-on recommendations, was incredibly knowledgeable, and you could tell she genuinely loved the food herself. Her passion and attentiveness made the experience even more enjoyable. From start to finish, this was an absolute 10+/10 experience! If you haven’t been, go now—you won’t regret it!

We love Awaji - the waiters are so nice and helpful and the energy is wonderful. You must have a reservation for here - it is always busy. Under standly so the food is usual top notch. We eat here often and keep coming back. The dumplings are great. I will say this visit we ordered a simple kimchi fried rice and both our orders were mushy and not like it usually is. We will still come back and hope it was a "one off" night. Otherwise the rest of the food and time there is great!

Another fine experience at this neighborhood gem. We started with miso soup, savory and rich. My wife had their huge chicken salad. I indulged in the Tonkatsu grilled pork tenderloin. We couldn't stay for dessert this time. But their bread pudding is out of this world. We'll be back!
