   When we walked in we were very impressed by beautifully designed restaurant. It’s small but very elegant and well decorated. Unfortunately the service was not great. Our waitress was disinterested in recommending any food for us since it was our first visit. The first three wines we attempted to order were out stock and she explained to us that they still out after Valentine’s Day ( yesterday was March 14th…) she did not suggest or recommend any replacements… She just kept telling us to take more time and then disappeared … we could clearly see her socializing with three of her coworkers at the bar. So it took forever to get the order and finally a glass of wine . The food was mediocre. The only exceptional dish was Aya roll. That was delicious. I am not sure if we would have much better experience with some guidance form the staff but I doubt we will be back to find that out.

   This place is absolutely incredible. The food was the best sushi we’ve had in Houston and we have tried many of the top sushi restaurants. The staff is amazing. And just incredible ambiance. 11/10.

   First time here and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very knowledgeable and attentive. Probably over-explained things for us as we are big sushi eaters, but for the location probably appreciated by local diners. Decor was nice, not cozy. Fish slices were small. Every dish was delicious and presented well. Sake list is extensive and there is a sommelier in-house. Be forewarned, there are limited beef and chicken options—this is a 98% trad sushi restaurant. We will definitely be back.

   Always a great meal at Aya. The staff is very knowledgeable, they have a very good bar, and the food is fantastic

   Went for the Valentines day omakase. Had a reservation for 9:15 pm that we had to put a deposit down for. Their was about 10 couples that also had not been seated before us. Ended up getting seated at 10:45 pm. Didnt get our first dish until 30 mins later. They ended up missing four of our dishes that we had to remind them otherwise we wouldnt have gotten them. The individuals around us also didnt get 4-5 dishes. And on top of that, the waiter was extremely rude about me bringing up that they forgot our dishes. And when said dishes were brought out they were extremely rushed and over cooked. We ended up leaving the establishment at 1:15 am. From a 9:15 pm reservation. Extremely unacceptable, nothing was done to compensate for the terrible service and wait either. Will not be coming back ever. The only pleasant thing about this experience was the wine specialist. Do not come here for Valentines day.

   I recently experienced an omakase dinner that, unfortunately, fell short of expectations. The restaurant had clearly overbooked, leading to significant delays in service. What should have been a seamless culinary journey stretched over 4 hours, with dishes arriving inconsistently. The servers seemed overwhelmed and unfamiliar with the menu, often struggling to keep track of which tables had received which courses. This lack of organization detracted from the dining experience, making it feel disjointed rather than the carefully curated meal one expects from omakase. While the food itself may have had potential, the poor execution and service issues made it difficult to fully appreciate.

    Everything was great but the overall bill was a bill higher than I was hoping.
