Korean Tapas Restaurant. Inspired by traditional Korean cuisine...not traditional Korean cuisine.

The Korean word ‘Bansang’ refers to the style of table setting for the kings and nobles of the Joseon, a Korean dynastic kingdom that prospered for more than five centuries. At Bansang, we wish to serve all of our guests with the same care and sincerity as the chefs did for their royalty in those times past.

Korean fare is built around enjoying various distinctive types of dishes simultaneously rather than in separate courses, as this allows every person to experience continuously changing flavor combinations unique to Korean culture. Our guests can expect a modern, creative perspective on this traditional style of Korean cuisine.

The cod was fishy and all other dishes are tiny but pricey. Not a recommended place for Korean food

We booked this for our casual anniversary dinner and were disappointed. Dishes were flavorful but gave the nostalgia of a much more casually priced dining experience. The price point for the dishes were high so we were expecting some high end ingredients or innovation but sadly we were left disappointed with our nearly $200 meal for 2, especially our $58 steak that we ordered medium rare and came out like warm and mid well. We decided to skip dessert because of the experience.

A decent second visit, preferred the first. Was recommended the cold mussel salad from the waiter, and it was okay, honestly would have rather something else. The uni toast was delicious one of their popular appetizers, a pricey two-three biter. The sunchoke truffle was my all time favorite from my first visit and it did not disappoint on this is visit. Bursting with major flavor and texture. I’d lick the bowl for that creamy sauce. Beef tartare was a good portion with a great pairing of seaweed that made it feel like way more. The Jang pasta was extra salty, had me wishing we ordered the Kim chi fried rice. The ribeye with lettuce wrap was a big finisher. Satisfying morsels of beef wrapped in fresh greens.

Second time at Bansang and the experience was great. The food was excellent, wonderful service, and good vibes. The small dishes were the highlight and next time I’ll order more of those. The pasta was a surprise hit of the big dishes. I will definitely be back.

The server is incredibly rude, ignoring us and not acknowledging our requests multiple times. I had to walk up to the chef counter to fetch her.

For tapas their food portion was generous. Flavor is well balanced Service was good Wished there was table cloth or pedestal for utensils Seeing stacks of pre toasted bread made me hold from ordering uni toast

First time at Bansang - we'll be back! The tapas style menu is good for a group as you can order a lot of dishes to share (we were 5). Started with the small tapas - note that the food comes out fast- had we known, we would have asked our server to slow the service. We had the mulhwe noodle - a cold raw fish and noodle dish- was excellent! It was large enough to share amongst us 5. Light & refreshing- a must order. The uni scallop toast was amazing - one order can be shared for two people. Its a bit pricey - but you can tell the ingredients are super fresh. The charred broccoli was so good - perfectly cooked and the slight bitterness from the char balanced with the back bean paste aioli. We had one order - and everyone got to have a taste. The jjimdak bao was amazing. We ordered one bao for each of us (we should have shared instead) - the braised chicken was so tender and juicy and the bao was light and pillowy. The soy glazed potato was a revelation. Soft and tender fingerling potatoes and the soy glaze was an umami bomb of goodness. Sunchoke & truffle was delicious - pricey (truffles) but worth it. Rice cake & chorizo was surprising in that the flavors mimicked a pepperoni pizza? It was really good - we ordered two of these. You'd think we had enough - but we had to try the large tapas - 1 order of the gochujang black cod was enough for each of us to have a small bite. Had we not filled up on small tapas, we would have ordered 2 of these. The galbi rib eye was tender and tasty. If we had to skip one dish - it would be this. It was really good, but not surprising like the other menu items. Radish kimchi fried rice - addictively good - would have ordered 2 of these too. For desserts - we ordered 1 of each of the 3 offerings. The date cake was the best of the 3, pear sorbet needed more pear flavor and the banana ice cream was good but not memorable. With two bottles of wine and a cocktail, bill was $570 (w/o tip). Pricey but worth it!
