Bar Japonais combines an energetic setting with a distinctive culinary and beverage program. Features include vibrant, Japanese-inspired dishes, sushi and a French wine and cocktail menu, embodying the spirit of both cultures. As with acclaimed sister concept Bar Chinois, which highlights Chinese and French influences, our inspiration is to once again blend two exciting, rich and timeless traditions to create a dynamic offering. Bar Japonais' restaurant core values will revolve around energetic hospitality and intuitive service, ensuring a remarkable guest experience. Join us for Happy Hour specials throughout the entire restaurant and patio, available Tuesday through Saturday from 4 PM to 7 PM and Sunday from 4 PM to close.

Located in Logan Circle, Bar Japonais is a short walk from the Washington Convention Center, Capital One Arena, National Mall and The White House.

    Come party with us at Bar Japonais for a very special Drag Brunch hosted by Cake Pop! Come celebrate with us at the best Sunday party on 14th Street. Tickets are $35. Enjoy optional bottomless drinks for an additional $40 including mimosas, select beers and hard seltzers until 3:00pm. Food and additional beverages are available a la carte. All reservations can be seated as early as 12pm and the show begins at 1pm. Tickets are non-refundable and adults age 21+ only. Don't forget to bring cash for tipping entertainers!

    I came in from Chicago to visit my daughter. I took her and her roommate to dinner. It was last minute so many places were booked and we found Japanese opened up. And it was the most delicious food. The service was amazing. And the atmosphere was super charming. A great area to go out too

    So good. Everything we ordered was so fresh, and the restaurant was very lively and fun. Will be coming back.

    This is a hidden gem! You never think French and Japanese food would go together but it just works seamlessly! The food was DELICIOUS and the service was immaculate (Devonte was the best server I’ve had all year!). Run, don’t walk to Bar Japonais!

    Restaurant Week menu was a good representation of standard menu. Also able to take advantage of happy hour! Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Lively crowd. Great opportunity to try a new restaurant and will return.

    Not impressed at all. For some reason we were sat at the back on a high table even though we had asked for a normal table (we have a kid). The menu is very limited - we were surprised that a Japanese restaurant does not have miso soup and does not have hot sake (it was below freezing outside). The food was basically what you would get at a diner. Definitely NOT worth the price. Not impressed at all.

    Great experience & great ambience! 10/10 would recommend for date night, dinner & drinks with friends or solo date! The service was phenomenal, my waitress was patient & very sweet & gave great food & drink recommendations. The Kalpi Cosmo & Raikou (it has lychee in it) are my absolute fav! The food was also delicious from the steak skewers, dumplings, cucumber salad to the sushi & Japanese fried chicken! 100% going back!! It was little chilly (at least for me, i get cold anywhere I go, lol) so bring a jacket or sweater if you get cold easily.

    Stunning restaurant with fun vibe for a few cocktails on a Friday night and some small bites. Tuna tartine and Okonomiyaki was delicious. Stuck on Oki was our favorite cocktail of the evening. Staff were fantastic and very attentive. Will definitely be coming back.

    we had such a good time, we had a really large group and the restaurant was really accommodating with us. The only reason I did 4 instead of 5 stars is one person did the pre fixe menu didn’t get 2 of their courses and someone else didn’t receive their entree until we were leaving. Otherwise drinks and bites came out timely, everyone was really nice and the food was delicious (I loved the veggie roll and the noodles)
