   Small intimate dining area. Bit noisy since tables close together. Very good service. Interesting menu with variety. High quality dining.

   The food was exceptional as it should be at Bar Masa. The service however was way below standard. While the primary server, who took our order, was fine and did a good job, the person whop was actually serving the table was a total disaster. He was constantly rushing us, always filled the glasses to the brim - which was totally inappropriate when the carafe should be kept on ice. He was also always rearranging our plates and chop sticks, and touching the shop sticks at the wrong end with his bare hands. When asked to not do that he just brushed us off. A complete disaster and a shame since the food was excellent.

   Massive price gouge, the Wagyu add-on for 195 was a couple slivers of very thin meat heavily marinated, it was pretty comical. Don’t know if their regular menu is as over priced, but the Valentine’s Day menu was just a huge rip off.

   This review is for their Valentine's Day omakase. The food quality is good - but really nothing to write about and it should be better. But the serving size, it's terrible and a really bad value for money. Ambience is also basic so you're just paying for the cheaper MASA name- it's probably the worst value for an omakase that we've ever had. Our previous meal just this month was at Le Bernardin so I know what I am talking about. For $395 for a 7 course meal, you think you will at least feel satiated, but no, you will still feel hungry at the end of your meal. The diners beside us ordered 2 more a la carte plates- we thought of doing the same but just thought of going somewhere else. And seriously, you will have to split a $13 slice of cake between the two of you for dessert plus 2 halves of a Japanese strawberry you would think you are eating in a bake shop or something (I know because it's my favorite cake, green tea mille crepe from Lady M). For $395 a head, please do better and serve at least a slice of cake per person because having to share a slice of cake for $800 for 2 is just cheap.

   The food was simply outstanding. Possibly the best Japanese in NYC. Great service. Everything was just right.

   We had an early dinner at Bar Masa on a Saturday night. Our initial contact with staff was cordial. The space is beautiful and menu sounded terrific. We both love truffle and ordered a few dishes with truffle in the description. There was no truffle detected in either dish. I'm willing to pay big money for small portions if they are delicious, but this was not. The other dishes were mediocre. In addition, the service was rushed. My plate was cleared from under me while I was still eating - I had literally just put a piece of food in my mouth and was leaning over my place setting with my chopsticks still in my hand and whoosh - away it went. I will not return to Bar Masa or its affiliate restaurants again.

   My husband and I enjoyed our lunch there. Staff was attentive. Services were great. Our dishes were delicious! Will definitely return when in the area!

    We love Bar Masa usually but this time they allowed in a stroller with two dogs in it to sit right next to our table while we were eating. Is that not against health codes? I understand on a patio… and maybe at a less expensive restaurant… but when making a reservation at a nice expensive restaurant where I spent a grand before leaving…. I really should not have to sit next to an animal. Gross.
