This is Greece.

Bar Vlaha tells the story of the Vlach people, the founders of hospitality and Greek cooking. A nomadic group of shepherds who created and nurtured the roots of Hellenic cooking as we know it. Straying from the tried-and-true island cuisine, we're rediscovering Greek fare sourced from rural mountains, lakes and villages of Central and Northern Greece.

Bar Vlaha captures the true soul of Greek cooking with rustic and nomadic traditions using charcoal and open fire gastra techniques. Locally sourced, regional and seasonal ingredients are combined with the warmth of old-world hospitality to bring the roots of Greek culture to Brookline.

    Food was incredible, service was excellent! The saganaki, tzatziki and cornmeal pie were amazing! Only minor criticism is that the tables are a bit close together. The food is so great though, highly recommended.

    Our first trip to Bar Vlaha was remarkable and will be repeated soon. The wait staff is amazing - well trained, knowledgeable, friendly and truly helpful. A special call out to Andres! The food is fresh, perfectly prepared and includes a range for every dietary need. From the sourdough bread and spreads, to the salads, pitas and entrees, there were only winners! And being introduced to Greek wines was a bonus. This place deserves its stellar reputation!

    Had read many reviews and obviously well rated, but did not disappoint. The cultural aspect was very intriguing, everything we ordered was delicious, and the Pump the Brikis cocktail made this a overall great experience

    We had a wonderful experience at Bar Vlaha. The service was impeccable and friendly. Jorge was very careful about my food allergy. The cocktails were incredible - and we love our craft cocktails. Everything we ordered was delicious and flavorful. Loved the ambience and music, as well.

    Underwhelming experience or I must have had very high expectations, the food was decent but nothing compared to their sister restaurant. I would recommend the beef cheek and smoked eel and the service by our waitress but great. My main concern though was that it took 30 minutes to get seated for our reservation and there didn't seem to be much of a drive to free up the space or offer an apology.

    Outstanding experience. We went for a belated Valentine's Day dinner and the service and food was incredible. Our server was attentive without being overbearing. He even surprised us with some non-alcoholic cocktails during dessert when he noticed my partner wasn't drinking alcohol. It's uncommon for servers to not only pick up on that, but honor someone's sobriety. It was an extremely kind gesture that will be remembered. The food is also amazing, so well made and yummy. I love Bar Vlaha and find any excuse to go back!
