Inspired by the parrillas of his native Argentina and the hip enclaves of contemporary Buenos Aires, Chef Javier Bardauil brings the art of live-fire cooking to Detroit at BARDA — a modern steakhouse where ancestral traditions meet out-of-this-world innovation. The steakhouse’s open kitchen is a showcase for Buenos Aires native and chef Javier Bardauil’s exciting live fire cooking, which earned the restaurant a James Beard nod for Best New Restaurant in 2022. Phenomenal results coming out of this kitchen. Chef Javier and his team bring the flavors of Argentina to this bustling culinary oasis on Grand River. The porterhouse special served with its perfect crust and the best chimichurri you will find in town Charred caesar, chorizo and burrata starters set the tone.and the potatoes were a must do accompaniment with the wood-fired steak. Burnt Alaska was a delicious closer and the pavlova was a delightful surprise. An epic evening!

One of the best culinary experiences we've had in a long time. How did they make cauliflower juicy? Make sure you get the short rib. All the desserts are magic.

Had a great experience at Barda. No small detail was ignored. Cass greeted you at the door with enthusiasm and a fantastic welcome and the bar crew including Josh and Mike were excellent. Food was great and service was better.

Potatoes and short rib are must gets. Skip the trout in my opinion. New favorite restaurant in the city

Whereas some items on the menu were unique and delicious there are too many items that are spicy. As someone who cannot do spice my options were very limited. I thought I chose a dish that would be okay and it too was too spicy hot. Disappointing.

As always Barda provides a delicious meal with wonderful layered flavors from drinks to dessert. We had the short rib, the beets, crudo, baked Alaska, and fennel and alcoholic and nonalcoholic cocktails. Everything was divine and cooked to perfection. This is one restaurant in Detroit which could easily fit in in any major city on any coast and we are lucky it’s here in Detroit. The staff and chef were so friendly and amazing!
