Recommended in the MICHELIN Guide for California 2021-2023. Located in Oakland’s historic Grand Lake District, Bardo is a neighborhood lounge and restaurant inspired by the comfort and camaraderie of a mid-century dinner party. Drawing on the celebration and elegance of old school entertaining, we envisioned a space for friends and neighbors to enjoy amazing food, cocktails, conversation and great music.

Our lounge is a swank living room, furnished with hand-picked finds from antique and vintage markets from Palm Springs to Portland. Our mezzanine dining room features a rotating menu of fresh, seasonal supper-fare with local and sustainably sourced meats, fish and produce. While we think the food, drinks and atmosphere are all great reasons to visit us, it’s the relationships with our friends, neighbors and guests that is the driving force behind Bardo.

Dining with friends? You can't go wrong with our family style Dinner Party Menu. We include an array of house selected apps, mains and desserts from our current seasonal menu. All dishes are meant to be shared among your whole group. Sample a little or a lot of whatever meets your fancy! It's a great way to dine and depending on the night, Chef Amol might stop by your table for a little visit! Food cost is $75/pp and does not include beverages. 20% gratuity and tax will be added to the check.

We had such an amazing time! We ordered the Dinner Party Menu, and it was a perfect mix of everything. All of the food was absolutely delicious, and we scraped every single plate. We also really enjoyed sitting at the bar, and Anthony, the bartender made us some fantastic drinks based on our preferences and what we were eating,

Food is screaming good, from the shareables to the mains. The wait staff is on it; they know the menu, so if you have questions ask, want a recommendation ask. It’s a small menu all of which is done well. Oh & do not forget the dessert, amazing, scrumptious must leave room for. New favorite place!

Bardo is excellent; on par with some of the best culinary experiences in Sonoma, Napa, and even Cafe Chez Panise. The food is exceptionally fresh and well crafted. It's good value for what you get. The drinks are pricey.

Did the chef’s choice menu this time and some items were excellent but the pasta dish was uneventful and the ribeye was under seasoned.

Excellent drinks, service and food! We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end. We had the Daiquiri, Caesar Salad, the Steak and Irish Coffee for dessert. All very delicious! The steak was exceptional.

Great vibes in this place. Good music, lighting and decor. We enjoyed sitting at the bar, chatting a bit with Ben while he ran the cocktail service and eating their excellent food.
