Bata is a restaurant designed to celebrate the best our region has to offer. We cook over a live oak fire, on our custom fabricated hearth. Our menu changes daily. We mill AZ grown grain in house, daily. We focus on whole animal butchery, done in house. We have an extensive fermentation program. Our bar program largely focuses on wines that are organic, biodynamic, and produced with minimal intervention. The cocktail list highlights the best products of the season, with a carefully curated list of spirits from across the globe. We believe that our hospitality is just as important as the food and beverages we put on the table.

We do not encourage our restaurant for young children. We do not have any highchairs in house and ask that you please bring your own if it is required.

We do not offer any outdoor seating. Private dining, kitchen counter and large party seating available. Email hello@batatucson.com for inquiries.

We chose to let them choose what we had and so glad that we did. I would not have selected some of what we were served, but it was all great and expanded my future range of options. I didn’t think I could eat dessert, but the intensely chocolate sorbet convinced me otherwise.

As others have noted, Bata is a wonderful experience from start to finish. We were in Tucson for less than a day, and I wanted to try something unique and memorable, and Bata is both of those (and then some). Our server DJ was knowledgeable and guided us through the food journey gently and competently. We opted to choose our food ourselves, though the option to have your server curate your meal exists. If you decide to go that route, though, the whole table has to choose the same thing. The fact the menu changes as often as it does is a real strength, I think, because it almost guarantees freshness, creativity, and excitement. The night we dined we enjoyed a lot of stuff I had to look up, but thoroughly enjoyed eating. The suggestion from DJ was two selections from each section of the menu, which is organized from light to heavy, so that's what we did. Everything was SO good. The malawach was outstanding. We tried two desserts, the smoked pumpkin cake and the chocolate gelato, and both were genuinely delicious. Of the two, we thought the gelato was better. The smoked cornhusk meringue was something I know I'm going to spend a lot of time thinking about. I'm really pleased we had a chance to try someplace so special, and if we ever make it back this way, I hope we get another chance to see what's on the menu. :)

My only complaint is that we were celebrating two birthdays and I had a conversation with the manager prior to being sitted and he stated he would alert our waiter and unfortunately nothing was brought up or done for these special milestones

We did the tasting menu, everything was excellent. I could not believe the amount of food served for $65 each. This would never happen where I’m from (las vegas). Very innovative, exciting and delicious dishes served. I wish they had more of a cocktail list tho. Will definitely come back next time we’re in town.

Enjoyable and unique dining experience. One of the most innovative menus in Tucson in a lively atmosphere. Attentive and knowledgeable servers. This was our second visit and certainly not our last
