Belly Bao is a located ion King Street, Newtown - Sydney's cultural hub.

Sydney's first dedicated home of Bao, we specialise in hand made Bao creativity. It's important to us that you enjoy our love for food paired with great drinks and friendly service in our fun, casual restaurant that offers a hint of old Chinese restaurant nostalgia.

Taking from the traditional chinese pork bun (pork bao), we pride ourselves on our hand made bao, and introducing our asian heritage to our Australian home.

Great and very helpful staff, they sadly had to sit us on the bar, but it wasn't so bad. The drinks are heavily over priced and I would just recommend to not bother, go somewhere else for drinks in the area there are better places much cheaper to get a good cocktail. The Orange chicken was by far the best dish, which is a shame for a Bao Bun place when you think about it. The Bao Buns were ok...not great, like Ipuddo makes better ones if you really want to try some. The chicken was dry, the meat was stringy, the pork belly one i didn't even bother eating because it looked bland, and there was no real crackling on it. In the end I recommend you get their burgers and the Orange Chicken as they're far more enjoyable than the buns. Shame really. TL;DR - Drinks cost too much (common problem, not exclusive to this place) - Staff are amazing - The buns are average - Everything else on the menu is better than the buns (the irony) - Ambience is really nice too!

Food was not flavourful enough, particularly the baos. The curry fries had too much cheese which made it overly salty and the curry was too watered down. The onion noodles had very good flavour but were served lukewarm. A bit disappointing considering the good reviews on TikTok.

Greeted by a friendly host who explained how to order, the restaurant is dimly lit with great ambiance. Table was spacious and easy to move in and out of. The food was delicious!!!!!!!! Great portion sizes of fresh and beautifully presented meals! Well priced menu items!! Beer on tap was good too! We will be back!!!

By far my favourite restaurant in Sydney! I'd highly recommend the orange chicken, truffle fries and braised beef bao, which I've been ordering for years! Also has a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.

The food was awesome! After seeing the chilli baoratta on Instagram we had to try it and if was delicious! The ambiance was really nice, service great. Good for a date night or just with friends. Highly recommend

Love Belly Bao, food it always top tier. We were running a little late and they were more than accomodating. Atmosphere is perfect for just a casual dinner but also dates. The music is at a nice level and the food came out so fast. Will definitely be coming back
