   Our visit to Betty’s on 29Nov24 for a Pink Champagne Afternoon Tea, was a lovely experience. My wife and I used to live in Ripon when we were young and as a young couple Betty’s was always somewhere which was financially totally beyond us, but said we would one day return. This we eventually did some 40 years later for my wife’s birthday. The staff were very personable and professional, the cuisine and pink champagne exquisit and the ambiance provided by the pianist, provided the perfect atmosphere. The only thing which let the visit down and a perfect score of 5 stars, was the fact that we traveled quite a distance for this birthday treat, for us it was a very special occasion. When completing the reservation we chose the ‘Birthday’ occasion from the drop down menu, assuming it was there for a reason. However, during the visit no mention was made of it, a shame as many people around us, had their birthday briefly mentioned, which as you can appreciate, perfectly rounds off the visit, when that’s the reason why you are there. I didn’t mention it on the day, as I didn’t want to embarrass my wife. If an additional second request is required (I’ve not experienced this anywhere else), then I’d recommend it is either mentioned or made clearer, I’d also remove the drop down occasion element of the reservation, so no one else is caught out by this red herring. I would definitely recommend a visit though and if it’s for a special occasion, I’d make sure an additional mention is made and confirmed.

   Booked the festive afternoon tea and was seated in the upstairs room which was pleasant with a pianist playing. Enjoyable food and were asked if additional sandwiches and cakes were needed. Service was friendly and you were put at ease.

   This was a perfect experience from start to finish. The staff were welcoming and expert. Our table was ready and we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. The atmosphere was very special - relaxed and comfortable with a lovely festive feel. Staff were keen to help with tea selections from the extensive menu, all served in silver teapots. The afternoon tea was exceptional! A delicious selection of traditional favourites with an elegant twist and the most perfect scones I’ve ever eaten! It was worth every penny and I would say this is a must for anyone visiting Harrogate.

    Lovely sedate setting in which to enjoy a festive afternoon treat. Staff are always excellent at Betty’s - polite, friendly, helpful - and the food is as you’d expect: plentiful and tasty. We’d made a special request due to a member of our party having a restrictive pallet and Betty’s confirmed they’d received our booking note about this in a follow up call and on site. They were excellent in managing this. Really enjoy sitting back, talking with our party while enjoying great food and listening to the lovely music
