This beautiful, historic room - located on the first floor of our York tea room - is steeped in history and provides the perfect setting for our most exquisite afternoon tea. You'll be serenaded by our pianist as you enjoy a selection of savouries, indulgent sandwiches, specially selected teas and irresistible dainty cakes and scones.     Service not as polished as on previous visits, but still a pleasant occasion. Had to catch the eye of staff to ask for refill of tea and food rather than staff checking in on us. Was very surprised and disappointed that vegetarian sandwich options were very limited: only 2 choices as opposed to two with meat and eggs: a ham and cheese sandwich without the ham (!) as our server described it, and a curried chickpea sandwich. Surely in 2024 it must be possible to create three different vegetarian sandwich options to cater for non-meat eaters! In summary, it was nice to eat in the Belmont Room again: it's a beautiful room with a wonderful atmosphere with live piano music, but the food and service didn't seem as good as on our previous visits. I'm sure we will come back to Betty's again in the future, but will be trying out other places in York on our next few visits.

    We had afternoon tea, it was lovely very. High quality food in a lovely setting.

    Never disappoints. Always a great visit. If going to York you c must go

    Only one problem very difficult for someone with walking difficulties to climb all those stairs. Think this makes it impossible for some people with mobility problems to enjoy this experience. Should be some way you could accommodate people who cannot use the stairs some alternative.

    Enjoyable experience - staff were very attentive- great you could have a second round of sandwiches (always my favourite bit). Definitely worth booking if visiting York Christmas Market.

    I have been to bettys for afternoon tea in the Belmont suite for the last few years and always been very nice but this year me and my family was disappointed in the service and food especially the service. We will not be coming in the future as the price price was not worth it .

    Brilliant from start to finish. Anne our waitress was extremely professional, polite helpful and explained all the selections of the festive menu that we had chosen. Certainly recommend, definite 5 star food and hosting.

    Lovely service, food was really nice. Enjoyed having the piano player in the background. Would recommend.

    Lovely atmosphere very presentable staff very friendly and attentive nothing was too much trouble as much food as you could eat have been a few times and everytime was lovely highly recommended if in York
