One of Houston’s original restaurants, Birraporetti’s opened in 1974 with the slogan “A great Italian Restaurant…A heck of an Irish bar.” For almost 40 years, Birraporetti’s has been the place to gather on a date, celebrating with friends and family, for happy hour or before or after the theater.
We are noted for our award-winning stone oven pizzas, pastas such as lobster ravioli, & delicious main courses including hand-carved beef filet & fresh seafood. And don't leave without trying our signature Frozen Bellini’s, Irish Coffee, chocolate chip cheesecake, tiramisu, or the berries & cream.
Located in the heart of the Theater District. Steps away from the Alley Theater, Jones Hall, Hobby Center, Wortham, Houston Ballet, Bayou Music Center, Sundance Cinema & a few blocks from Toyota Center and Minute Maid Park.
Open late seven days a week. Join us for Sunday live Jazz Brunch Buffet, Live Music Mondays, or to enjoy our lunch menu for downtown business clients.

The restaurant was very busy but did a good job getting everyone’s meals out in a timely fashion before the theater.

Sadly, I have to report negatively on experience of 8 March 2025. A 6:15 reservation was honored about 6:30, it was a busy theater night and we had time so that's not the issue. We were seated downstairs which is quieter and had about maybe 40% of the tables occupied. We were greeted by a server who said she'd return but didn't. Another server helped us. We ordered drinks and meals because we also had theater tickets. Iced tea should be easy but took some minutes to arrive and was carried to 3 or 4 tables before our waving got attention... the staff had no idea where to take the tea. This happened with our salads and means as well... the staff down there had no idea where anything was to be delivered. We noticed this was with all the tables in our view. The salad choice was house or Caesar which was an up-charge (although we didn't know). The salad was TINY and SAD. For that to be an additional $2 just add insult to injury. My wife's house salad didn't arrive for another 10-12 minutes. When it was time for the mains, the staff again carried all over looking puzzled and hoping someone would recognize what they ordered. The food we received was fine, it was accurate and a reasonable temperature but nothing special. I noticed other tables asking for checks and noticed how long it took to receive and be processed. Given that more than half of the tables were empty I see no reason for this, you KNOW people have tickets to the theater we saw many of them at The Alley that evening. Speaking of tables, the one we had was leaning about 10% out of level it needs to be repaired or replaced. Just as we were leaving a man who may have been a supervisor was asking tables if they were "fine" ... honestly given his dress and behaviors I wasn't sure if he worked there or not. We elected not to complain because that guy wasn't really interested anyway. The whole experience was poor; I can't recommend this place like I used to. The location is great, needs managers who care.

Dined with a friend before a show at the Hobby Center. The restaurant was only moderately busy. We were seated quickly but waited 15 minutes before a waiter came to take our order. Our meal arrived at the table very quickly. But our wine wasn’t brought until we were finished with dinner. We were offered or provider with water. We ate our salad and main course with no beverage. The wine finally arrived 30 minutes after we ordered. I understand things can go wrong and servers may not show up for shifts. But no one - not a waiter, host, or manager - asked about us or attempted to explain or apologize. This is my second similar experience in the past month with Birraporetti’s downtown. It appears they don’t have adequate waitstaff to handle their busiest time - pre-theatre dinner. Management needs to be aware that such poor service (repeatedly) is causing long-standing loyal patrons to dine elsewhere.

We eat at Birraporetti's almost every month. If this was my first time I wouldn't go back. We usually have quick and accurate service since we are usually going to a play after on a Wednesday night. Once our waiter came by and took our order. He didn't write our order down. When he tried to repeat it back and it took a couple of tries to get it right. I am not impressed with waiters who do not write down the order. We ordered off the Curtain Call menu. Salads, Filet, Chicken Marsala and dessert. My husband was handed a ribeye with mashed potatoes but the server kept calling it a filet. We told him several times that wasn't a filet and he must have the wrong table. I was surprised the server didn't know the difference between a filet and ribeye. Since it was already getting late and my food arrived, he took the ribeye. It ribeye so tough, he didn't eat it all. Even with a steak knife it was hard to cut. I only took it home for my dogs. The other disappointment with not receiving the filet is that it comes with shrimp and pasta. The filet comes with pasta and the chicken comes with potatoes. I don't care for potatoes and he doesn't care for fettucine alfredo so we always switch the sides since the menu says no substitution allowed. Can't eat a whole meal of 1/2 of my meal is usually saved for lunch the following day. I was very disappointed when we didn't received the pasta. When is asked for a to go container for a WHOLE plate of food (1/2 ribeye, 1/2 chicken and potatoes) I received the smallest container available. It barely fit he chicken and steak. Potatoes were left behind. We ordered a Beef Eater Sandwich to go for my daughter and it was smaller with less meat than usual. I was surprised the waiter got that order right since he acted like he didn't know what a Beef Eater was. Overall a disappointment. Will I got back? Maybe, but we will just order pizza. The pizza is great.

We had dinner prior to going to the Hobby Center, as was the case for most everybody in there. The service was friendly and efficient. Our food came out quickly and was very good. Our dinner is experience could not have gone any better.

We went for dinner before seeing “Hamilton” at The Hobby Center. We were seated quickly and ordered quickly. Food was good. It took us over 30 minutes to get our check!!! We were almost late for the show. This used to be our go to place for downtown, but after last night, we will find somewhere else. Very disappointed!!
