Located in Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C., Bistrot Du Coin serves up delicious French cuisine. Its very relaxed setting features picnic-style table cloths and a second floor to accommodate a packed house. Owners Yannis Felix and Michel Verdon opened Bistrot Du Coin's doors in 2000 for patrons to converse and have fun while enjoying their meals. It offers hearty starters such as French onion soup and fresh, crisp salads, steamed mussels and sautéed foie gras. Veal stew in a creamy sauce, braised chicken in white wine and pan-seared salmon topped with a fresh herb sauce are filling main courses to try.

Bistrot Du Coin hosts parties to celebrate popular French events throughout the year, and it serves brunch on the weekend with its own menu. This restaurant has an extensive wine list, but also offers cocktails and apéritif. It is open year-round and welcomes reservations.

Our waitress seemed to forget about all of her tables several times throughout lunch. We waited probably 10-15 minutes for our soft drinks alone, weren’t checked on throughout our meal, and waited for the check for 45 minutes. The fact that they tack on a 5% surcharge and an automatic 20% tip doesn’t give me any assurance that they value customer service here.

Our reservation was for 9:30 p.m. We arrived on time + were taken to our table. The waitress tossed our menus on the table, said, "Kitchen's closing soon," + walked away. Here's the deal Bistrot Du Coin, if you don't want people dining in your restaurant at 9:30 p.m., don't take the reservation. Your food is mediocre, your service is sub par + the tablecloth on our table was filthy. ** I would think more than twice before going to this restaurant. **

11:30am reservation for Sunday brunch; not busy or loud when we arrived. Ordering was fine but the follow up lacking. Multiple people served the table so not sure who our waitperson was. Asked a busboy for pepper and ketchup which he supplied. They seemed a little short-staffed. Asked for a coffee refill 3 times with no luck til I got up and walked to the back and handed my cup to someone. Veggie omelet looked like frozen veggies and kind of chunky for an omelet. Crab cake was better but certainly not local crabmeat. As we passed noon, it got noticeably louder so would not recommend if you want a quieter place.

This is a rather large French restaurant - casual in style. They really packed into the space an absolute maximum amount of tables possible (like probably a fire hazard amount) so it gets uncomfortably crowded and hard to get in/out of the space...even the staff struggles. Because of this the noise level can be uncomfortably high at times. The food was good and I do recommend going. BUT a few things really took away from the experience: 1. They charge for mayo, why? I have never been charged for mayo in any French/Belgian restaurant I have been to in the US (let alone in the respective countries). It's a menial charge - $1, I just can't fathom the reason behind this practice... 2. We both had one of the ice cream desserts and were beyond disappointed when we saw/tasted that the chocolate sauce was some sort of bottle syrup (tasted exactly like Hershey's, what trash for a restaurant said French!). I would have expected actual melted chocolate as the sauce. 3. The lapin à la moutarde tasted more of cream than mustard. Finally, something that really annoyed me was the person who took our order didn't understand French (items are listed on the menu in French and we're both native French speakers)...she kept struggling to understand and when she finally did she looked annoyed and repeated it in English... If your staff doesn't speak French (which is fine) maybe at least teach them to recognize what's listed on your menu?!

Classically French bistro, many rows of closely spaced tables and chairs and adverts for French products posted on the wall (comme en France). The food was amazing, delicious, well-presented. We never felt rushed. Good wine list, too. Reservations are highly advised. Oh, and don’t pass up any of their desserts. They are amazing too.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for almost 20 years. The service and ambience are always wonderful. At this point, the prices have gone up significantly, plus there is a 5% surcharge and the food quality is just not the same. The bread is not as fresh. The chicken dishes are dry. And the onglet, which is their signature is fine, but far pricier and not as good as say, Mon Ami Gabi.
