Restaurant was busy for an early dinner on a Sunday. Food was excellent - pulled pork/mac & cheese and shrimp & grits. Service was slow but the server was pleasant. Will definitely return but will try to find a quieter time when we can fully enjoy our meal without such loud, blaring music.

Food was good. Service was great. I had one issue with a drink price - they didn’t charge the menu price but it was corrected quickly. I’ll be back there.

It was a packed house for the CD release party of Fran Drew and the Lucky Strikes. It seems that there were only 2 servers on the music side of the restaurant. They worked hard, but service was generally poor and slow. Management should have scheduled more help.

We always have a great time when we visit. Last night was no different. The live music always adds that little something extra that sets BES aside as a special place.

Food and service was great. The atmosphere was a little noisy because they had a live band. I'm a frequent diner there and will definitely be back!

The first time going was excellent, and the food was great, waiter excellent. Raved about the place to my family and decided to give the same experience I had, NOPE NOT TGE CASE. Food terrible gumbo rice was hard so hard my sister thought there were bones in it from the chicken. The sad part is I recommend it cause the last time it was excellent. Ribs dry and hard. Shrimp and grits there was so much grease that my niece sad the food was taking a swim in it...the collards woo overcooked. The waitress was horrible so much so that she was missing everyone off at my table. We all worked in the food industry or service, and we know bad food and bad service and when drinks are watered down. The only thing good was the singer and her band. She was a good host and came and introduced herself to us. She made the place nice. My people came all the way from Jersey, for a horrible experience will not be going back.

What a nice surprise! Black-Eyed Sally’s has a great menu with a variety of Southern favorites. We ordered fried green tomatoes, followed by chicken & ribs bbq and blackened catfish. Both were excellent, including the suggested sides. Our Mississippi mojitos were good. We also enjoyed the band (note: noise level was a 4 when the band was playing). The decor is eclectic and music themed. Our server Tee was great (is everyone in Hartford this friendly??). We’d definitely recommend Sally’s!

Our server was amazing besides attending to her customers she put out a fire in the dining room caused by someone putting paper too close to the candle. Food was ok, it was better last time we were there. Fried green tomatoes blt was lacking bacon. Devilled eggs could have used a little more bacon also. The fried okra was falling apart, they need to make the cornmeal stick to the okra better. Brisket was good, cheese grits perfect and the cornbread was fantastic.

Good barbeque, great service. Only a couple of tables for a Thursday lunch. Portions are big. Brisket was great; mac and cheese is very cheesy.
