100% Plant-Based restaurant in Wicker Park.

We have always had the core belief of being as good to ourselves (and the earth) as possible, but as we grow, we have always wanted to do more. With this desire, we decided to open Bloom Plant Based kitchen. Not only is eating a more plant-based diet healthier and more forgiving to one’s body, but it is significantly better for the environment. However, with healthy plant-based options not being the popular choice, we know we have stiff competition. Therefore, our intention with Bloom is to focus on bringing flavorful, healthy, and affordable plant-based food to families while also being desirable and appealing to everyone regardless of their diet.

I don’t usually have overall bad experiences in restaurants, but it seems like the staff at Bloom worked hard to not deliver. I’ve been here once before many years ago and I didn't like the food or service. Felt it was mundane - depending on a lot of sugar and salt as seasoning instead of creatively mixing foods with flavor. Feel the use hot peppers in every appetizer is overboard - even in the cheese board. My wife convinced me to give it another chance. RSVP for 8:45p. They close at 10p, but because they couldn’t get us a drink after being seated for 20 min, we opted not to order dinner and just do appetizers. The cheese board came out and we finished it before the drinks ever came. They were not busy at all. In fact, the section we were seated in had no diners because it was nearing closing time but they couldn’t get an appetizer prepared in under 45 min. We didn’t order dinner because we noticed how long it took to get one drink - 20 minutes. We ordered all appetizers once the waiter decided to take our order. Mind you- no one in his section before he decided to check on our drinks and 3 people behind the bar chit chatting. We placed 4 app orders at once but they couldn't even get these out - last appetizer came at 10:30pm. Waiter asked if we got our second round of drinks-nope. Waiter asked if we got our other app-nope. He should have gone to the bar and kitchen and asked them. 2 hours for apps and a couple drinks. A can of beer is not hard to serve. We ordered 2 desserts and they only brought us one. He messed up every order whether it was the server, bar or kitchen. Even busboys kept trying to take our plates because it was late but they still had food on them. The server again took our plates and we said we still have another app we still didn’t get. This all could be done in under an hour, if they just cared more. The biggest surprise was the auto 20% tip to the bill which didn't give us a chance to express how bad the service was.

My husband and I went here for a date night, and it exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious, and we enjoyed every dish we tried. I especially loved the yuca gnocchi. Despite the cuisine being elevated, the vibe was accepting and laidback. Our server was friendly and polite. Our questions were answered, and the recommendations proved correct. The small plates were actually a little bigger than I was expecting. The prices were definitely reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we received. I will absolutely go back. It was lovely to have such a fantastic dining experience.

We got the chef's counter experience. We were seated at a counter on high chairs looking into the kitchen as they were preparing the food for the restaurant. They worked as a well oiled machine. Tue Chef/Owner was there working at the pass finishing dishes. He helped to serve us and explain the dishes. The food was excellent. There were different textural elements along with complimentary and contrasting flavors. Everything was seasoned to perfection. We got the optional wine paring with it, and unfortunately, the waitress that was serving our drinks was a little slow at one point and we didn't get the wine that was intended to go with a dish until after that course. Fortunately, it was a reisling so sipping on it between courses was enjoyable. Overall it was a stellar experience that I would definitely recommend amd I will definitely be going back to Bloom.

Had the Valentine's Day prefix menu with my partner. The food was colorful and artistic. The main course options were very good. The first course options were good but uneven in quality. One reminded me of my grandmother's creamed corn casserole--tasty but not upscale. The drinks were good but nothing extraordinary. The desserts were a disappointment. The vegan cheesecake was a little dry. Even so, eating it with the popcorn garnish was fun. The chocolate lava cake was a major disappointment. It was almost rubbery and didn't have any lava. I'm not actually panning the restaurant. An upscale vegan experience is a rare thing. We had a good time. But, the meal cost about $230 for the two of us with tip. At that price point, things needed to be more special for me to consider it a good value.

Phenomenal vegan friendly dining experience, one of the best I’ve had in Chicago. Service was friendly and casual, but hyper-attentive. For the price, I don’t think you can beat the tasting menu.
