Bocanova is a Pan-American Grill & Restaurant celebrating new world ingredients, many of which are often associated with the old world because of their heavy influence on our favorite European cuisines.

Where would Italy be without corn (polenta) and tomatoes, or Ireland without potatoes, or France without haricots vert and pole beans all of which originated in the new world. What would Asian cuisine be without peppers and rice and this is just the tip of the iceberg. We aim To celebrate the bounty of New World ingredients through the creative interpretation of indigenous dishes from South, Central and North America.

To provide a casual environment that encourages our guests to nourish both body and soul through the sharing of meals with friends and family.

Join us, Saturday March 22nd for the Third Supper Club Wine paired dinner of 2025! The theme will be Chef Rick's Birthday, Inspirations from his trip to Mexico! As we Quickly approach our Second-Year Anniversary in our new location in beautiful Downtown Oakland, we're excited to celebrate our executive Chef's Birthday by throwing a Fiesta! $98 per person for 5 courses expertly paired with wine from Mexico. Menu: First Course: Marinated Ahi Tuna Tostada w/ chipotle aioli, crispy shallots, avocado Second Course: Pescadilla Petrale sole, cheese, pico de gallo, jalapeno sauce Third Course: Roasted Poblano Chile Relleno w/ eggplant escabeche, Chihuhua cheese, mushroom mole Fourth Course: Roasted Pork Prime Rib w/ Oaxacan chile sauce, plantains, sweet potatoes, habanero onion salsa Dessert Course: Chocoflan $25 per person non-refundable deposit required.

Food had good flavor, though didn't feel it matched the price tag (I understand prices are up all around and businesses need to pay the bills so I wasn't mad about the value) ; had a really nice cocktail from the Special list. We were there on a Thurs night and the dining room was empty (except for us), so it felt odd. A few folks came in later. Server was engaging and knowledgeable. Considering how few folks were dining, we felt service could have been more attentive.

The location and layout are great. The food and service were exceptional and the price is reasonable by today’s standards.

Loved it and the food is simply outstanding. Great street views very modern but again it’s the outstanding food.

Beautiful restaurant downtown Oakland, perfect spot for my valentines date. My date was hesitation at first because it was outside of her comfort zone, but she eventually ended up liking the food. We enjoyed ourselves; the service made the night special. Thanks to the waitress with the pink shirt and black pants for the menu tips.

Great location and atmosphere. Food and service were high quality. They also validate parking if you use the valet at the Marriott across the street. I'll be back for more business meetings.

The foods cost and ratio was awful. I'd be happy to pay over $35 for a gumbo but for it to taste kind of bland and to only get maybe 2 cups was just disappointing. The portion sizes otherwise on other dishes was also amiss. The service was fine but the waitress seemed keen on upselling versus sharing more about the food since it would be great to learn a little more about the recipes we're paying so much for.

Bocanova is hands down our favorite spot to eat! It’s beautiful, the staff is fantastic, the food is amazing. When we’re there, the whole vibe is so comfortable and familiar. We love to have special dinners there and bring our out of town guests!

I was invited to dinner at Bocanova in Oakland. The inviting picturesque view of the restaurant and surroundings piqued my curiosity of what I was about to experience. I received a warm welcome as I entered the restaurant by the staff. We enjoyed the amazing appetizers, and I am not a fan of Ahi Tuna, it was awesome. We followed the appetizers with our main course selection: grilled marinated lamb chops and Peruvian style chicken. Delicious! If you haven't visited Bocanova, please visit.
