Murrieta’s Hospitality welcomes Borough Bar + Grill, inspired by the five boroughs of New York.

Borough Bar + Grill pays homage to the unique North American culinary tradition in a casual yet expressive space. The restaurant features a main dining room and lounge area with floating ceilings, intimate booths for a more private dining experience and a unique chef’s table for large parties.

The restaurant also includes a patisserie where guests are welcomed to grab sandwiches or a coffee for a walk through University District’s many parks and walkways.

1.5 -2 hours for each booking, please call if more time is needed.

Corporate chef Daniel Pizarro has developed a menu as diverse as the boroughs of New York.

Complete with retractable awning and fireplaces the south facing patio is the perfect spot to enjoy Calgary Summers.

All accessible from University Avenue with direct access to Central Commons Park, as well as convenient underground parking with immediate access from the plaza.

Roasted beets was a top shelf starter, Roto chicken & fries seasoned well good portion size too

We had the NYE set menu and everything was delicious! They were very accommodating the a gluten allergy and it was a really enjoyable dinner.

We had dinner with friends, the food was amazing and we didn’t even realize we had been there for almost three hours. No presser to leave

It was a family dinner. Ordered the Brussels sprouts, calamari beet salad to start. Main dishes was the Sunday prime Rib special, Risotto, and shared the cedar plank salmon. Salmon was not to our liking appeared and tasted dry and over cooked. The response from our server and management was amazing. They provided us with an alternative choice and covered our drinks on the final bill. Extremely impressed with the service provided and the rest of the food was fantastic.

Stopped in on Christmas Day for dinner, reservations recommended on holiday seating. Upon arrival, we were seated quickly after our coats were checked and we were shown to table. No concerns, the entry/exit could be crowded if multiple parties coming and going and if the weather is on the cold side, you might be left waiting outside. We decided on mains at the same time as drinks and ordered altogether. Drinks showed up around 7-9 minutes after ordering (reasonable). Good presentation on the smoked old fashioned, but the smoke dissipated quickly (if recommend leaving the smoke in the vial longer before releasing, for the spirit to take on flavouring) also had a non alcoholic cocktail and a margarita. Old fashion was perhaps a 7/10, margarita 6 and non alcoholic a solid 8. Once drinks arrived at the table, this is where the hurried feel of the meal came to be front a centre. We were served food less than 10 minutes later (one person had a main, others had combos of appetizers). Caesar salad - small portion for the price. Good dressing but not memorable in general. Calamari - be VERY VERY careful if you are averse to boat loads of salt. This was far too salty for one person to enjoy. Unsure if this was the normal preparation, but you’ve been warned. Rigatoni - Decent sized portion, seemed fresh with ok flavours. Again, not memorable but not over the top with sauce and salt. Dessert was the patisserie offering which was quite nice. I suspect I would stick to the patisserie lineup on the next visit as it seemed to be a strongpoint in the kitchen. Overall, good service and ok food but nothing standing out which would be a clear winner for a follow up visit. Thanks for being open on Christmas Day and by all accounts based on the number of tables, this is a highlight of the season for the restaurant.

We were seated in the very back corner of the restaurant right by the patio which was closed off for the winter with some sort clear vinyl soft wall. It was very difficult to regulate the temperature at our table. When the heater was turned on it got far too hot and no way to adjust the output, it was either on or off. Aside from that, our server was wonderful and the food delicious. We will definitely go back but request to be seated in a different area next time.

Excellent! Almost everything on the menu is - or can be made - gluten-free making Borough an outstanding choice for those with celiac disease. The GF calamari is fantastic and some of the best we’ve had (gluten free or otherwise). Fabulous cocktails and quality food.
