   Cognac is new to the neighborhood. The food was terrific and service also wonderful. No loud music which we love. Highly reccomend it. I want to go back for the cheese soufle

   Unfortunately this is the second experience I have had at this relatively new location for this restaurant and it has not been good. In both instances, the restaurant has run out of popular dishes or somehow an order got mixed up. The service , while well intentioned, seems disorganized and inefficient, and once at brunch, with a very long wait where we had to inquire about our order. I have been to Cognac on the East side and other places and have found it to be excellent. Unfortunately at this location, the food was fair, the service fair and unfortunately, I will not be returning.

   The service was friendly but not as efficient as I would like it to have been. I ordered the escargot which didn't have enough garlic for my taste. The filet mignon was supposed to come with mashed potatoes but it was served with french fries. I was told they didn't have mashed potatoes. The french fries were not very good. For the price I would have expected more excellence.

   We appreciated that they lowered the music. The service was attentive and pleasant. The food was good. Will definitely return - as we are neighborhood people.

   We had steak tartare and tuna tartare pre-theatre meal. Delicious. Service was excellent. Highly recommend.

   We are delighted that Cognac has recently opened in our neighborhood. It is a lovely interior with banquettes and well-spaced tables. The staff is welcoming and professional. The food is French bistro - hot onion soup perfect on a cold winter's day, omelets, salads, quiche and sandwiches.

   I had Steak frites and it was excellent. the meat was soft and cooked to my liking. the ambiance is very nice. the restaurant is new at this location. It was noy easy to find. Despite having the name written on the window, a scaffolding make the sidewalk a bit dark and the restaurant inside is not particularly allows the light to be seen from outside. [ The place next to it has lights outside with a menu written on a blackboard (this one catches your attention)]. The service really needs improvement. it was not easy getting a glass of water refilled. It took forever to catch the attention of a waiter to get the dessert menu . Staff is very nice though, but attention to customers needs to improve.

    The overall meal was just fair. Three of us ordered a Croque Monsieur and they all arrived cold. The ham on the sandwich was minimal. I expect better from a French restaurant. Others in our group ordered the scrambled egg meal. The eggs were delicious and by far the best thing we had. It came with a side of sausage and the sausage was similar to a frozen link that had been reheated. Service was lacking as well. The server apologized at the end of the meal and blamed it on the restaurant being busy. However it didn't appear that busy and we watched her walk by us several times without checking in. I wouldn't return.
