Arrived for a lunchtime booking at the Bar Counter for my 60th Birthday treat - which I had told them about via OpenTable. Shown to our place by an efficient but impersonal Maitre D. The Bar Tender quickly offered us menus, and water, but had to ask for the wine list. Then it all went downhill... Had to ask him to take our order as it appeared he had forgotten us. He said they were just busy,.. He brought the wine after serving us a glass each, and kept the bottle on ice behind the bar. An Italian couple arrived and sat next to us, to whom he constantly chatted to in Italian throughout our experience. When they ordered their wine, he poured them a taster out of our bottle. We pointed this out and he gave us a new bottle free of charge. We waited for at least 20 mins for our food (just one course each). Food was okay. My partners plate was cleared mine was not. We were not offered desserts. Another member of staff behind the bar was constantly throwing empty bottles into the bins very loudly. There was no acknowledgment at all of my birthday. Would not have paid the service charge were it not for the gratis wine. Will not go again, a very poor and soulless experience.

Great vibe and even better food. We sat at the bar and all the bartenders were super friendly and very knowledgeable. Harry was our guy and he was top notch. Highly recommended!!

Food was okay. Service poor… We had to wait a while to be asked if we wanted a drink. Then, the incorrect drinks were brought out and we had to wait for the drinks to be brought out which arrived after our starters, leaving us nothing to drink for over 20 minutes. Over a 45 minute wait between starters and mains being brought out. Portion sizes were on the smaller side. Servers took over 10 minutes each time to clear plates from the table. We were served by 3 different people during the meal, including a manager. Almost like we had been forgotten to be allocated a waiter, so whoever could be bothered to serve us would squeeze us in when they could. However, there was an abundance of employees at the restaurant who walked past us empty handed and ignored us plenty of times. Incorrect food brought out for mains. Incorrect food and drink issues were resolved by the staff quickly but unacceptable wait times and booming music throughout the restaurant made this a dining experience to forget. The restaurant aesthetic itself is lovely, if you’re lucky enough to be seated in the half of the restaurant under the phoenix. If not, it’s just a bunch of tables a few meters away from a large drinks bar. Whilst the food was relatively tasty, it was not good value for money.

The restaurant is really a beautiful place, the music inside is really funky although a bit too loud for us. We picked the valentines menu, which sounded actually great. The presentation of the food was very nice, only we found the sirloin not of high quality.. also they forgot to take our sides. It looked like the waitress that was taking the order wasn’t that aware of the actual menu as we also had to remind her that a glass of champagne was included as appetiser. Although the service was relatively fast, it wasn’t really a personal approach. Felt really rushed and if if we where just a number.. Also when we asked for a simple glass of red wine, they didn’t manage to bring it together with our main dish and had to wait for it. Next to not having any sides, the main course was a pitty. Later we found they charged us 35 pound for the two single glasses of red wine, which in my opinion is a bit high for glass of wine by the glass. All together, really a beautifully place with nice music, but if your searching for a more personal approach with, in this case, good steaks, I’d go elsewhere. Nevertheless, the starter and the dessert where having a great presentation, though not that surprising in taste.

What a great and glamorous night this was, it was simply perfect, delicious food, perfectly done steak, juicy chicken Milanese, excellent wine list, pornstar martinis were made by a magician, worth the wait for sure, one of my favourite cheesecake for dessert was the perfect ending to this night. Excellent service, great and warm welcome as ever by the hosts.
