   I have been here before during "Happy Hour" and had no complaints. This time went a little differently. There were 3 of us in my party celebrating a birthday. 2 of the 3 of us do not drink. Unbeknown to us, there is a required drink to enjoy the happy hour pricing of the burger. I just double checked the website and it does not mention that. Imagine our surprise when our server told us that. Ok. One had a tea, one a pop. Then, after service that was very hit and miss, we get the bill to discover that the pop was $6 as was the tea. That makes the burger $21 because the cheapest beverage choice is $6 and it's a requirement. I feel that this is misleading and inappropriate. Just charge $21 for the burger and leave off the beverage requirement. As far as the food goes, the burgers were a bit dry but very tasty. The "biscuits" should definitely be taken off the menu or relabeled as something else. They were more like tasteless, baby muffins. They were a complete fail. But since they arrived after our burgers, they were an afterthought anyway. As to the service, he was friendly but forgot our appy (such as it was) until after the burgers came. He interrupted us without a blink a number of times to tell us his stories. I feel like he was quite distracted and although a friendly person, he did not hit the mark that evening. Add to that the insult over the burger pricing, we were not thrilled with the meal. Too many great choices for similar food in the city to patronize one that has to be sneaky in their pricing. Maybe most people drink and perhaps the server had too much on his mind and the muffins, well, not everything has to be 10/10, but again, why return when I can go elsewhere and not leave with a sour taste in my mouth? I do hope the restaurant takes this feedback to heart and reviews their Happy Hour policy.

   We had a delicious Valentine's Day dinner at Buchanan's. We had fillet mignon and the T-bone steak. athe dessert was lovely, too. The ambience was magnificent, the service was exquisite and the overall experience was very memorable. We'll highly recommend Buchanan's and we'll definitely be returning.

   Short ribs were so well done, shredded easily with a fork. Tasty sauce too. Cajun fish sandwich was also tasty, good size and came with fries. We had a wedge iceberg salad, enjoyed it. The mac and pork belly was the only underwhelming part of the meal, not enough cheese in our opinion. Service was very good, timely and just right.

   I was disappointed with the food. I ordered the lobster pot pie. It was full of a cream sauce and cubed vegetables with precious few, if any, bits of lobster. A real disappointment as Buchanan's can usually be counted on to serve a good plate of anything... The service was excellent and the company exquisite. Too bad the food was such a letdown!

    Happy hour cheeseburger 16 bucks cannot explain how good they are and one of the few places you can get it cooked less than well done.The lamb shank was cooked perfect and no waxy film in your mouth when done eating it.They have a great 49 steak apply and dessert that can not be beat Fridays nights and Saturday a different dish as well.I only wish they offers up a smaller rib eye but you won’t find much better anywhere in calgary.
