Argentina-raised John Rattagan was the family grill master from an early age, in a country where the asado (barbecue) enjoys near sacred status. Luckily for London, he left his homeland as a young man and set up Buen Ayre in the heart of trendy Hackney. The headline act is the steaks, served in a range of cuts with a simple garnish.     We had dinner here recently, and while the food was good, the way the billing was handled felt dishonest. My friends ordered the £19 steak, yet when the bill arrived, we were charged almost double that price. My friend hesitated to question it, and I wasn’t sure what he actually ordered, so we let it go. However, after looking into it, I found that there were other customers have had the same experience—being served the larger portion without being asked and charged a much higher price. This feels like a deliberate tactic. Customers should be clearly informed about size options before ordering. It makes me wonder how many people unknowingly overpay. The food was great, just very disappointing about this kind of shadowy situation.

    A lovely evening with the perfect steak. Food was incredible as always. The staff are super nice and the restaurant has a lovely ambience. It’s very comfortable. Had a fab time, thank you.

    Great evening celebrating my beautiful wifes birthday with my brother and his Mrs along for the ride. Monster meat feast. Fabulous cuts of cow with just a couoke of chips to lighten the load. Not somewhere that veggie/vegan to tread. It's all about the STEAK! Solid and knowlegable staff. Not cheap but where is in London 2025 unless you eat in. Recommended!

    the best place to go if you are Argentinean and show to all your friends how we eat meat! the management and the girls are always helpful and accommodating and super happy...the desert menu its amazing ...do not miss the Dulce de Leche

    Perfecto! We had a lovely meal two courses empanadas to start and stay for the main course which was cooked to perfection our waiter Jasper was very friendly and helpful all the staff couldn't do enough to help us we really had a good night and enjoyed it immensely. Thank you

    A very pleasant evening with two close friends. The main restaurant is a better place to sit for supper as the back part of the restaurant is cold and without atmosphere. I could have been better seated as our table was opposite the door to the toilets & having paid almost £500 for the evening I would have expected a better table! Nevertheless the service was excellent and we were the last to leave! Thank you all at Buen Ayre! Sanjeev
