   Another lovely dinner at Bungalow. The Craftsman style setting is very cozy. Service is always stellar—- thank you Robb. A holiday dinner with gal pals and we all enjoyed different items…Scallops, Halibut, Seared Ahi Tuna Salad and Short Rib Ravioli with sauteed mushrooms. Delicious!

   We arrived early and spent about 45 minutes at the bar, had a calamari appetizer with a cocktail (wife) and couple of stouts (me), the calamari dish was huge and delicious. We got seated a little before our reservation time of 7 PM, in a cozy booth for 2. Service was attentive but not intrusive. We each had the prime rib special, highly recommended. We were celebrating our 52nd wedding anniversary and the restaurant provided complementary molten chocolate and ice cream dessert. All in all we had an enjoyable evening. Thank you Bungalow and staff.

   Wasn't thrilled with experience. My friend ordered the filet mignon cheeseburger well done. She used the language that was stated on the menu to oetder it well done. She had to send it back twice and the third time it still wasn't right but just accepted it because she felt she had disrupted the meal for the other three people in our party. She ended up picking at it but it just wasn't right. Our server Sarah was wonderful and we felt bad that she had to be the front line person to deal with the issue. The manager should have done something more for us more than compensating for our friend's meal. It ruined the experience for all four of us. We had high expectations because this restaurant was recommended to us by a good friend that lives on Balboa Island. Happy to answer any questions if you would like. Didn't feel Luke the manager took this seriously.

   We have been coming here since long before it was Bungalow. This will probably be the last time. Beginning with the greeting..the young lady at the door was more than friendly but the manager didn’t even acknowledge me (no other guests were waiting) while he finished instructing her in something else. Very poor impression from the go. The server didn’t seem to possess a smile and she was only business (this IS the holiday season btw). And I have ordered the so called crab and shrimp salad before and had forgotten how it is mostly iceberg lettuce with very tiny bits of crab and bay shrimp for which they charge $33. There are far better places to dine even though I like the ambiance.

   Food was great. We ordered the bone in ribeye and 5oz lobster with pasta. As sides we had the caprice salad,  and truffle mac and cheese. There was a man on his phone behind me cursing and telling inappropriate stories to whom ever was on the phone with him so we asked to move our seat. I was dining with my 11 year old daughter for the holiday season and his loud voice and stories were disturbing. The noise level must have been too loud for our server because there was an odd misunderstanding over bread. Over all the food was good, the experience in general was average. We will not rush back anytime soon. This establishment is probably best suited for after work cocktails or dinner with co workers vs a mom and her preteen daughter on a random Wednesday. Rather unfortunate since we often dinner locally when it’s just the two of us and my husband is working late.

    Great Birthday. The waiter had a few large parties so he wasn't as attentive, but I was always able to get his attention hen we needed it. Food is good but the lamb was cooked a little more than I like.
