   My wife and I had brunch there on Sunday and found the entire experience wonderful. We had the Aunt Marys (Bloody Mary), the beignets with coffee custard, The Hangtown Fry Toast, Pimento Omelet, and hash browns. Everything was excellent, though the pimento cheese omelet was a bit understated for my taste (a very minor critique) though cooked to a soft perfection. I need to go back for the biscuits and gravy, and shrimp and grits. Every dish was based on a standard or classic brunch dish but very creatively reimagined and done to perfection.

   We literally licked plates! We couldn’t decide what we liked best because everything was phenomenal! I can’t recommend Burdell enough. The service was wonderful. Everyone was incredibly friendly. They didn’t judge us for licking plates :) (There was also some eating crumbs off of the table because we couldn’t get enough!)

   My second time coming here. One for brunch on Sunday and one for dinner. The vibe feels like a hug; the food is well-done, the chicken always juicy, great take on waffles corn bread. Definitely a great take on classic comfort food.

   Came here for Oakland Restaurant Week and really wanted to like the place, but it wasn't that great. Food was super unique and interesting and fairly tasty, but the service was pretty bad. The staff was friendly and all but we had 20 minute waits between courses or between asking for the bill and receiving it. They switched us between still and sparkling water multiple times, which was annoying, but the biggest service issue was we asked to take some of our leftovers home and so the server took our plates, packed it up, and then brought us a bag of leftovers about 25 minutes later. Once we got home we realized that someone else's half-eaten dinner had been packed up and sent home with us! The waffle was great while the chicken liver and crispy skin was pretty good. The beet salad was nice. The smothered pork chop was very good. The coconut & banana puddin' tasted like a small bowl of canned coconut cream with a few banana slices in it, not great.

   Always a pleasure to eat at burdell. The staff executed amazingly tonight and there’s always so much thought put into the pairing of all the food. Especially how much acid to add to the various dishes

   It was delicious. Everyone was so nice and knowledgable and it added to the experience. The atmosphere at Burdell is warm, comforting and very home like. Erica was our server and she made it feel like we were all old friends. In terms of food, we did not find any faults with our dishes… each one was delicious. The chicken nuggets with caviar was one of my favorites, and it’s hard to beat their greens. Ended with the chocolate cake and would do it again!

   Burdell stole our hearts with the delicious flavors, service, and it interior design that had us saying “we remember those plates from when we were kids!” We had the family dinner and couldn’t have asked for better taste. Cornbread and Dungeness crab gumbo was fire🔥!! So good we are going back the very n Dr day for their brunch!
