FAQs

Yes, Butchershop is a popular choice for date nights and special occasions. Guests repeatedly praise the attentive service, polished steakhouse menu and warm, candlelit atmosphere that feels both relaxed and a little celebratory. Expect high-quality Scottish steaks, a strong wine and cocktail list, and thoughtful touches like birthday cards for special occasions. Note: the dining room can be lively and tables for two are sometimes close together, so request a quieter corner when booking if you want more privacy.

Portions are generally generous, sharing cuts and Sunday roasts are hearty and mains like Chateaubriand or Tomahawk are designed to be shared. Many guests comment that sides and starters (hand-cut chips, onion rings, mac & cheese) are plentiful too. A few guests felt some individual steaks were small for the price, so if you’re particularly hungry consider a larger cut, a sharing steak, or extra sides.

Yes, Butchershop offers an extensive drinks programme, including creative cocktails, a broad wine list and whiskies. Guests frequently praise the wine pairings and cocktails, and the menu includes after-dinner cocktails and liqueur coffees. The restaurant accepts major cards at payment.

The standout is the steak, guests repeatedly call Butchershop home to some of the best steaks in Glasgow (fillet, rib‑eye, chateaubriand and tomahawk are frequently praised). Other favourites mentioned by guests include roasted scallops, the black pudding scotch egg starter, and desserts like sticky toffee pudding and dark chocolate & Baileys cheesecake.

Butchershop's standard hours are: Mon–Thu and Sun 12:00–23:00; Fri–Sat 12:00–00:00. If you're planning a special booking (large party or private dining), call ahead to confirm seasonal changes or holiday hours.

Partly, many guests dine with families and the team is described as accommodating (kids served quickly, colouring/crayons provided, birthday touches). The restaurant accepts large parties and can rearrange seating for groups. However, accessibility has mixed feedback: one guest noted facilities for wheelchair users were lacking, and tables can be close together, which may limit space for some mobility needs. Call ahead to discuss specific accessibility requirements.

For a quieter experience choose weekday lunch or an early weekday dinner, guests note these slots feel more relaxed. If you want the buzz (and special deals), book an evening on Tuesday for the Steak v Burger offer or Thursday for the Tomahawk promotion, or Sunday for the popular roast. Wherever you go, booking ahead is recommended as evenings and weekends fill up.

Butchershop offers a mix of dining tables and cosy booths across a lively dining room, with the ability to accommodate larger parties and private events. Guests mention some intimate booths and close two-tops, and staff have rearranged tables to fit bigger groups. For private dining or larger groups, contact the restaurant in advance to reserve appropriate seating.

Warm, lively and a little high‑energy, think Manhattan steakhouse with dark wood, leather seating and a buzzing dining room. Guests praise the polished yet relaxed vibe, which suits celebrations and date nights, though it can get noisy when busy and some diners found tables close together. Overall, the atmosphere is stylish, welcoming and geared towards steakhouse dining with energy.

Smart casual is the recommended dress code. Guests commonly treat the restaurant as a nicer night out or special‑occasion venue, and the space has an elevated steakhouse feel that suits smart casual attire.

Yes, guests frequently note the team is accommodating with requests like rearranging seating for extra people, birthday touches and pre-ordering specific items (some guests mention halal steaks available by pre‑order). For the best result (dietary needs, accessibility, private rooms or celebration requests) call the restaurant ahead of your visit to confirm.

Yes, families do dine here and guests often celebrate birthdays with children. There isn’t a dedicated kids’ menu listed, but staff provide colouring materials and children’s dishes are served promptly. Note one report that the kitchen declined to assemble a smaller children’s roast on one occasion, so if you’re bringing young children call ahead to discuss menu flexibility.

Busiest: weekend evenings, special promotion nights (Tuesday Steak v Burger and Tomahawk Thursdays) and Sunday lunch for the roast. Quietest: weekday lunches and early weekday evenings tend to be more relaxed. Several guests recommend booking for evenings and weekends because the restaurant can fill up quickly.

It depends on what you want: go on Tuesday for great value with the Steak v Burger deal, Thursday for the Tomahawk promotion, or Sunday for the well‑liked roast. If you prefer a quieter, relaxed meal, choose a weekday lunchtime during the week.

Yes, the restaurant accepts private parties and can accommodate larger groups. Guests describe staff rearranging tables for bigger parties and the team handling special occasion bookings. Contact the restaurant to discuss private dining options, availability and any set menus for groups.

Yes, guests frequently mention recurring promotions and special offers, such as the Tuesday Steak v Burger deal and Tomahawk Thursday promotions. There are also notable experiences like sharing cuts (Tomahawk, Chateaubriand) and a celebrated Sunday roast. Check the restaurant’s site or call for current specials and book early for promotion nights.

Yes, the restaurant runs a variety of menus (A la carte, Dinner, Set Lunch, Sunday Roast and Festive menus) and guests mention rotating promotions (Tomahawk and Tuesday deals). That indicates the menu changes for specials and seasonal offerings, so expect both staple steakhouse dishes and rotating items.
