First, the food is absolutely delicious - appetizers to dessert. Well prepared, layered flavors, and nicely plated. Cocktails were lovely and not skimpy on the alcohol. I liked hearing that the chef would course our meal based on our order and that the server asked if medium-rare was okay for the steak frites order (because that's how the chef wants to cook it and would cringe at any more). I was surprised at a few things that I'm hoping are just newly-opened kinks that will be worked out. One of those things was the fact that they were out of a couple of the menu items. It wasn't late when we dined. Also, apparently there was no special for the evening. I can't recall the last time I went to a fine dining establishment where there was no special(s). A couple of things that are small but really do take a restaurant to the next level: the lighting was too bright for nighttime and the tables maybe a smidge too close together. The other small thing is there was no offer to take our coats. Of course, I don't expect this at all restaurants, but it's particularly nice at a fine dining place. If you have a longer coat, it's awkward to hang it on or even drape it over the back of your chair. We (4) piled ours on the banquette, again a little awkwardly close to the next table. Overall, we had a very lovely meal and will most definitely return. Here's to a new spot in the local dining scene and to (hopefully) an ever growing number of reasons to visit.

This was our first visit to Byrdie's. There was a lot to like, and the food was outstanding. My wife had the steak frites, I had the salmon, we split a salad, and each got dessert. Every dish was delicious and our server was friendly and attentive. They even comped desserts for us when our entrees took a little longer to come out than the kitchen felt was appropriate (we had not even complained). Both of us, however, we're a bit put off by the atmosphere and decor. I guess they are striving for a somewhat minimalist Mid-Century Modern vibe, but it misses. The bare floors, bare tables, metal chairs, and empty walls, combined with lighting that seems a shade too bright, left us feeling as if we were perhaps eating very, very good food in a cafeteria setting. It was just kind of weird. Some small lights/candles on tables, a few pieces of art on the walls -- in short, anything to warm up the vibe -- would be a welcome addition.

Service, urban vibe, greeting excellent. Chicken dish very good. Onion soup was bitter. Steak was room temperature. Pomme frites were overly salted. Dessert was skimpy. Serve brewed coffee. We may try again but we have many other options. $140 for prime rib?

This was our first experience dining here, after being intrigued by the fact that the owners have a Michelin-starred restaurant in Chicago. The menu is short and well thought out, like a typical French bistro. We started with the version of old fashioned, which contained a small amount of Armagnac, and a tasty margarita that featured prominently an orange liqueur. For the opening course, we chose the potato and leek soup and the French onion soup, both of which were satisfying and flavorful. For main courses, the roasted chicken with frites featured a deeply flavored pan sauce. My turbot steak was perfectly cooked and sat atop a version of spinach with cream sauce and roasted marble potatoes. As it was a pre-theatre meal for us, we passed on dessert. Our server was young but very knowledgeable and attentive. It was an overall outstanding experience.

Went to Brydie’s tonight and our experience was outstanding. Started with a bowl of wholesome Onion Soup then a mouthwatering Hokkaido Scallop and concluded with a Glazed Whole Duck. Would definitely go back to see how they evolved. Our waitress, Ashley, said they are still evaluating what works and what doesn’t

Really enjoyed our dinner here. First time going - the drinks were very good, we really liked the onion soup. And then our entrees were both very good too. It's a little pricey, but it IS fine dining so we felt it was worth it. We plan to go back!

Dinner was great. Apps and salads were great. Cocktails were great. Probably the best manhattan in town besides the one we make at home. Looking forward to going back soon!
