Join us on the Halifax Waterfront in our relaxing dining room or waterside patio decks. Panoramic views of the Halifax Harbor, George's Island and an abundance of local sail boating enthusiasts passing by. It is simply breathtaking, Nova Scotia at its best.
We offer a large selection of fresh local seafood including lobster, halibut, haddock and mussels infused in our pasta dishes. We source only Canada's top prime and choice steak cuts which are from Alberta Beef Farmers with a reputation of the World second best beef provider. Now Pizza Pizza Pizza ! We use only 00 flour sourced from Italy, which offers our guests the cleanest flour available. Delivering a light thin crust with bursts of flavour made in house daily. Our wine list pairs well with our cuisine, representing the best vineyards in Italy, California and our local wine offerings suggested by our staff sommelier. UPDATE JAN 2025: We got an email saying this restaurant had closed. Loved that we could get the dining room menu in the pub.

So disappointing. I had made a dinner reservation for 5pm November 30, 2024. When I arrived (on time) I was told there were no tables left in the dining room and my party of 3 had to sit in the bar. The same thing happened to two other couples. Once seated our waitress apologized and gave us drink menus. She said she’d be back with waters for the table. That never happened. Ten minutes later she came back and took our drink orders - 45 minutes later one of my guests had still not gotten their drink so I had to walk to the bar and request it. We ordered our food at 540 as we had an engagement at 7. The food arrived at 645 so we ate quickly and left. The food was good but the evening was ruined so nothing could have helped at that point. I have had good experiences at Cafe Chianti before but I’ll never go back. There are so many great restaurants in Halifax.

Our party of four enjoyed the evening. Food was great including vegetarian options. We will go again.

Food was Fantastic and service was excellent. I am sure many people would not like looking at the side of a cruise ship, but we decided to have fun, and make up stories of the things we could see going on.

Not the same as previous visits. Something has changed. We loved it on previous visits... Super salty . Gnocchi was mushy.. calamari was off and scallops overcooked. Service and ambiance was great , as we remembered. Maybe just a bad night in the kitchen?

All in all, it was a disappointing experience . Cafe Chianti was always a dining experience with a varied menu with choices such as lamb , duck ,pate , I e , a real European experience. The menu now features mostly pastas and the dish I ordered was pitiful. Also, the ambiance is gone, this new setting was like a railway depot, totally lacking the charm of the previous settings. The fact that we were there on a Saturday evening with only a few scattered customers spoke volumes. In its defence, the restaurant was clean and the service was very good. However, it is not a restaurant I would return to,nor would I recommend it to friends. William Wilson
