Located just off Sonoma Plaza, Cafe La Haye offers an appealingly unfussy sophistication. The split-level dining room holds just a dozen or so tables, but its open kitchen, raftered ceiling and walls adorned with modern art create a vibrant energy that’s contagious.
Convivial owner Saul Gropman and chef Jeffrey Lloyd make a formidable team. Lloyd, former executive chef of restaurant Michael Mina, offers a seasonal menu that’s discreet in its complexity, featuring the sort of dishes that seem to get better with each bite.

    The short rib appetizer was outstanding ; the risotto good, the pasta very good. Corkage is too high for a local Sonoma vintner.

    My husband and I enjoyed our dinner completely! Everything was perfect. The baby gem salad was so delicious. My bride buttermilk chicken breast was bountiful and so delicious as well and my husband enjoyed his pork chop. The wine selection was very nice overall A+.

    Saul met us at the door and provided a lovely table. We were late as our guests just flew in from Dallas. He was very accommodating. The food was fantastic with a variety of specials. Great wine list. Great service. The best restaurant in Sonoma.

    Celebrated my birthday with friends and had a FABULOUS time! Food was delicious as always. It was extra special to enjoy time with Saul while he’s still in the restaurant. Thank you!

    Terrific! Felt very comfortable as if we were at home in an intimate setting. The food was tasty and each dish had pleasant surprises like the fried oyster in the carpaccio. Service was top notch never needed to ask for water. For sure we will be back for the other menu and dessert items we didn’t try. Thank you.
