Café Sbisa, established in 1899 and the third oldest fine-dining establishment in the French Quarter, is proud to re-open under the direction of a new team to once again offer the highest quality French-Creole cuisine in a welcoming, historical setting that both locals and tourists will appreciate. Spearheading the new Café Sbisa are Mr. Craig Napoli, who successfully ran the notable restaurant from 1992 - 2005 when Hurricane Katrina devastated the city, and Chef Alfred Singleton, who met Craig when he started working for him at the former Café Sbisa as a prep cook.

Now, the unique venue will once again open its doors to serve classic local fare like Turtle Soup, Louisiana Blue Crab Cakes and BBQ Shrimp using the freshest, locally-sourced seafood and produce. While many restaurants tout “fresh and local”, Sbisa means it, as the Napoli family owns their own seafood dock and distribution business in Hopedale, Louisiana.

Sunday brunch with endless mimosas is such a great experience. Jazz is nice and smooth. It is so mice to sit and enjoy. We never feel rushed and the wait staff is friendly and fun.

Much to like about Sbisa. But uneven. We were five originally, and the only table they had for five was right next to the band--practically in their laps. Fortunately, one of our group bailed, so they seated us upstairs, which was far quieter. The drinks were divine. As were some of the main dishes: the blackened redfish was to die for. But the bouillabase was overcooked, esp. the shrimp, which should have been cooked separately and then added. The service was...eccentric. Our waiter shared some very strange Hannibal Lecter references, and kept pushing additional gumbo (three times, no less) for the group. If I went back, I would go with only two people, order the gumbo, the redfish and a Sazerac. And ask to be seated upstairs. With some waiter other than the Hannibal Lecter anecdote dude.

April and Marcus were awesome! They were friendly, engaging and attentive. The food was really good. The seafood omelet was my favorite. Least favorite was the bananas foster French toast. It was a slightly burned. The live music was a vibe! Overall it was a good time.

We love Cafe Sbisa It is a really fine dining experience, yet portions are as adequate as our favorite traditional Creole restaurants. The food is amazing and presented with an artful flair. The service is attentive without that annoying overkill, perhaps because a 20% gratuity is automatically added at checkout (less insecure servers). I also appreciate that there are some very affordable bottle wine selections that obviously someone skillfully selected. The sound level was a pleasant conversational buzz that let's you know that people are tastefully enjoying their meals and conversation.
