   We were supposed to sit at the counter but they moved us to a larger table which was great! The wings and pork appetizers were really good, highly recommend! Our group all enjoyed our meals and service! Definitely recommend!

   First time in Saranac Lake for Winter Carnival. Wonderful service from Sadie, who also crafted our after-dinner cocktails. My wife’s steak was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The beef/game burger was delicious! Nice selection of local beers plus wines and liquor.

   Online menu was very different from the real menu - the real one was larger and more diverse. Huge difference in portion sizes between our 2 entrees. My meal desperately needed salt.

   The craft cocktails are delicious and tie seasonal menu is also good. Would recommend the restaurant and will dine here again.

   We've made it a point to come to Campfire whenever we come up to Lake Placid and have always found the food and service to be top notch for breakfast and lunch. We raved about our experiences with some travel companions and decided to go there for dinner last night. While the service and ambience were wonderful (as usual), the food was a major letdown. Our appetizer meatballs were lukewarm (but delicious) and our main courses were not up to previous standards. For example, we had many fond memories of their signature macaroni and cheese but the version that came with the fried chicken was tasteless and almost appeared to come from a Kraft box with little or no cheese. The maple vanilla ice cream was wonderful but also came partially melted. We hope that this experience was an anomaly and not indicative of changes that have been made in the kitchen. We're willing to give Campfire one more try for brunch but don't have our fingers crossed.

   We were there for Xmas Eve and upon arrival we were told that it was a price fixed meal offering for adults at $150 for five courses with wine. We were never told when the reservation was made ahead of time. The service was great… attentive, refilling water, checking on us, etc. However, my husband’s duck and my short ribs were dry and very bland. The cocktail sauce for the shrimp was great, the bisque and butternut squash soups were good. Desserts were unimpressive. I ordered Santa’s cookies and the three given were hard and seemed almost store bought and stale. The creme brûlée was average. We wanted the food to be great because the restaurant was nice and as said the service was great. However, we could not recommend the restaurant based on food.

   Tyler provided excellent service! The BlackBerry smash drink was tasty and the burger with the suggested wine pairing was perfect. Our fries were lukewarm but everything was so great we didn’t mention.
