COOKING WITH FIRE, SOUTH TEXAS STYLE Carriqui celebrates the South Texas tradition of drawing flavor from fire. Inspired by the flight path of our namesake bird, our menus feature regional favorites from the Rio Grande Valley, Texas coast, and the Hill Country. Nearly every dish is touched by the glowing embers of our custom-forged pits, smoker, or grill, all fueled by native wood. Host and bartender were extremely knowledgeable and enlightening in conversation. The host provided us with a wealth of information about the history of the building and was friendly and well spoken. Our bartender was just as friendly and attentive. He knew his craft well and provided us with good recommendations for libations and fare. We only had appetizers and drinks but they did not disappoint. The bean and cheese nachos were excellent, esp when our bartender suggested the spicy avocado cream sauce as an accompaniment. It definitely had a little kick, but it was not overpowering. The chicken in the quesadillas was probably some of the best grilled chicken I have ever eaten. I will be back to try the chicken on its own! My BF said the house margarita on the rocks was great (he had two) and I liked the sangria, but I will admit, I did not order a second. It was a bit bland, however, I appreciate that they made it fresh. The atmosphere is lively and the building has been beautifully restored and renovated to modern standards, but still keeps the warm aesthetics of its former days as the Liberty Bar.

The food was excellent and the service was great. Our server was constantly checking on us and making sure we didn’t need anything.

We were Seated 15 minutes past the time reserved. Once seated the evening was Enjoyable. Food and Service Good.

We had the burnt end nachos and ribeye fajitas! The chips and salsa were amazing. Salsa is a spicy in all the right ways. Highly recommend the nachos. San Antonio does nachos right by making each nacho individual. But the service is what was stellar. Our waitress was incredible.

Our waiter was so knowledgeable of the restaurant and menu, and was also the best bartender! We will be back! Food was 10/10!

I almost always dine at Carriqui when I am in San Antonio. The staff is friendly, food is outstanding, terrific atmosphere. However, it was clearly understaffed at my last visit: Long waits for cocktails, having to remind our waitress (who was clearly hustling to accommodate other guests) on more than one occasion of what we had requested.

Wow!! Exceeded expectations! Had reservations but went in for cocktails before dinner - excellent drinks, not watered down but perfect! Dinner was excellent! We chose the shared Smokehouse plate which was awesome! We got to sample a bit of the menu for an awesome price! Not overfilling but scrumptious for 2 people! Loved it!
