Since 1986, Casanova Italian Restaurant is at the heart of the Upcountry Maui lifestyle. From Sunday brunch right into dinner, you may expect the best Italian food on the island (as voted by countless local magazines’ surveys). Fresh salads, pastas, seafood and pizzas from Maui's first wood burning oven are Casanova's signature dishes. Loyal patrons appreciate Casanova's very reasonable prices. In 2017 Open Table diners rated Casanova the Best Italian Restaurant in the State of Hawaii.

    Casanova has been a favorite go-to dinner restaurant for my girlfriends and myself for many years. We start off with freshly baked focaccia bread, still warm from the oven, cut into easily manageable single serving cubes, served with a generous portion of olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping, and enjoyi our bread while we peruse both the wine offerings and dinner menu. Our choice of wine was a lovely Montepulciano from Italy. Although the antipasti (appetizers) called to us, we bypassed them to save room for the main course. Our entrees this evening included the Mediterranean salad, chock full of crispy fresh greens and veggies, flavorful feta cheese, and kalamata olives in a homemade lemon vinaigrette dressing; Tagliolini Alla Checca, a type of ribbon pasta mixed in with organic spinach, pine nuts, garlic, capers, and fresh Roma tomatoes with a touch of shaved parmesan cheese; and lastly, a classic Italian dish of Fettuccine in a rich creamy sauce—all three of them generous, satisfying servings, leaving no room for dessert. Our waiter Christopher was as charming and efficient as could be, appearing when needed, and leaving us to enjoy our time together without interrupting.

    Food was not what we expected. Pizza was good not great. Too much cheese. Bolognese was not good. I don’t think the chef knows what bolognese is. That was spaghetti with liquid meat sauce! Not typically authentic. Waitress was so nice and didn’t charge us. Glad we tried it but probably wouldn’t go back.

    Friendly and attentive server and staff. Drinks were cold, salads fresh and cold. The child’s butter pasta was fresh and delicious with a large portion. The pepperoni pizza was odd shaped and mushy tonight. It’s been much better previously.

    We ordered the recommended focaccia which was not very good as it was flat and overcooked(almost burnt). Our salad was good sized but not much flavor in the dressing. The pasta was decent but nothing amazing. It could have used a little more seasoning Our waitress was very good and pleasant.

    Freshly baked Focaccia bread and Artichoke appetizer. Cold drinks and salads with grilled steak. The Chicken Parmesan with pasta was shareable with the large portion. Great staff service.
